Completely agree with everything you said Munch (as I seem to often do).
I'm not sure if it was Hitchens, or perhaps Dawkins I heard saying a similar thing- relating support of a religion to a football team or political party.
It is indeed different but unsubstantiated, dangerously potent beliefs should not be given any more respect than anything else.
It just sickens me that it'll probably be another few decades before much global action will be taken in such countries- though with every publicized case, people in first world countries seem to get more and more worked up about it. Unfortunately the case may be that more of these cases will need to be publicized in order to further much progress towards minimizing this religion-based persecution and crushing of women's rights.
