I remember playing ET and having this as my hitsound (think it´s from Quake 3). And I really loved this feature. And didn´t think it was annoying or anything. I believe it would definitely be an improvement to the gamemode with this added (toggable though).
I've been playing ET since 2008, Just got off 5mins ago xD
I reckon its a good idea but make it toggable for those who don't want to use it
