980 is a good choice, I got an EVGA GTX780 SC and it still runs all new games on full settings and high fps so i wont buy a new one for a while. And yeah, buy an EVGA card cuz they are the best to overclock if ur into that stuff then.

Yeah, EVGA will definitely be my choice. Lately I was actually debating whether to get a GTX 970 or 980. According to a Flight Simulator forum, there's not much difference between them other than the price. However, their opinion is mostly FSX-based (which is more CPU than GPU dependant), but for video games that actually use the video card there should be a difference between both.

Anyway, if I've waited for more than 6 years now and will invest a good amount, why not invest it on the top one? In the future when games become more and more demanding, it'll take more time for the current top-of-the-line (980) to become outdated than a second-best (970). That's my most basic logical point of view, unless someone has a different opinion / experience with both cards.
