Darius that's crazy long man, I'll give it a read later though.
Now, for scary stories. I recall some on top of my head, but I wouldn't say they're exactly scary, rather weird.
When I was 14 me and my parents were searching for houses to move to. We visited this one which was pretty much old and was "falling apart", needing a lot of improvement and working on. It was a big house though, the ceilings were all wooden and fucked up, you could pretty much see the roof from below from what I recall, same for the floor except it was safe to walk. As soon as you entered the house you'd be in the main corridor, which was long and expanded up to the kitchen area in the end of it. I know this is gonna sound cliché, but I swear that there was this weird feeling as soon as you stepped in the corridor, as if something was off and not right about this habitation. The first doors, one on the right and one on the left were the bedrooms, first one we entered was the right one. The walls were filled with worn out wallpapers, which, in times, had been something similar to a marine green, the floorboards were invaded with dirt and filth laying on the top of them and well, the only light came out from the broken white wooden window, where sunrays broke through, making you able to see all the dust that was floating in the air. After checking out the room, move to the one which was on my left before. It could be considered a synonym of the other room I had just been in, the only thing differentiating being the colour of the wallpaper, which in this division was more of blue-ish tones, even though it resembled the other one in terms of the effects of time on it. Moving on through the corridor, each step provoking a creaking sound on the floorboards. Getting to the next doors, after some lengthy seconds of walking, we get to the next two divisions, just like before, a door on the left and a door on the right. Well, actually, there were no doors. These were removed. The only thing that stood there were the doorframes, matching the previously mentioned windows, regarding their shape and form. We check the door on the right and it was the bathroom. I can still feel the putrid stench that invaded my nose as soon as we stepped in. The bathroom was illuminated by a small window that was on the wall, located near the ceiling, letting some light break through. The toilet, bathtub and basin were in awful conditions, clearly older than myself with some touches of rust on them. We left the bathroom and headed to the division that was in front of the bathrooom, which was a larger room, clearly giving off the idea that this would be the living room. There was no light in this room, the only thing that allowed us to see into it was the light that came from the bathroom's window which was straight in this room's direction, litting it a bit in the direction of the door, leaving the corners dark. Well, to be honest I can't exactly recall the condition of this supposedly living room, but from what I remember it really resemblated the other bedrooms, only this one was larger. Well, since we couldn't see much of it, so we just moved ahead. We finally reach the end of the corridor and arrive at a large room aswell. This one had a huge window from which we could see the garden and the houses nearby. The window's frame was completely rusted, contrasting with the light that it shed inside the room. Just like the bedrooms, the walls possessed a marine green tone, with some parts ripped apart and some ruined by humidity. The floor, well, no need to describe it further, the annoying sound it produced with each step taken is enough. To the left of this room there was the kitchen. The light from the door on the right that led to the backyard, assisted by the one which pierced through the previously mentioned window, illuminated this small room. As soon as you entered you could see in front of you the ruined brown wooden cupboards and such accompanied the dusty basin, an old stove that assured no one would cook there rested next to the door and a rusted fridge on the left. There wasn't much worth mentioning here, except for one thing. As soon as we stepped in just a bit further, a door was seen next to the fridge. Only darkness existed after this door and not much could be seen, except for a dimly lit wall which was not even 1 meter away from the door. I got closer to it and peeked in. I could understand now why the wall was so close. This barely lit part of the house was the - and I'm not exagerating or anything - narrowest and most claustrophobic place I've seen to this day. Not even 1 meter wide, I'd probably say 60cm tops, there were stairs that led to the basement. Just thinking about it almost makes me panic. The stairs were made of stone and the walls were white, in which some parts you could see bricks due to the holes that were in some parts. And the air... what air? You could barely breathe in there. Backed away from the narrow corridor and headed straight to the backyard door. We go down the stairs and reach the backyard ground. You should see the backyard, it looked like a jungle. Vegetation all over the walls and dried grass on the ground, some parts of it tall, crackling as we walked. Turning around, we'd get the huh... let's call it "basement part" of the house. Almost everything made out of stone. There was this arc on the ceiling which divided the backyard and the basement. Stepping in to the basement I felt chills all over my body. This was no ordinary basement. This is gonna sound over the top but some parts of it looked... really weird. Just like the house upstairs, there was a corridor. Dark and humid, the only light we could get from it came from behind us. There were rusted pipes on the ceiling of the basement corridor which travelled until the end of the corridor. Getting to the first pair of "doors" (in quotes because, once again, no doors were there, only the entrances). Stepping in the right room revealed the division to which the dark narrow stairs mentioned before led to. Surrounded by stone, the only thing that caught my attention was the stairs which were on the right corner in front of the entrance. Even though the location where the stairs led to was now known, it still didn't stop me from feeling how creepy those stairs looked and felt. The ambient felt really damp down there, I suppose it could be considered a bit sickening. Going back to the dark corridor, we entered the other room. This one was half populated by large brown pipes, both on the ground and ceiling, aswell as walls. This intrigued me because I had no idea on what these used to do when they work or why they were there. There was barely any space to move in this room. Back to the corridor, this is where things got weird. Not scary-weird, but you'll understand what I mean. Walking through the murky corridor, finally reaching the end of it, accompanied by the pipes which had travelled along my side on the wall near the ceiling as I walked the corridor, I get, yet again, two entrances, each on one side. Unlike the rooms before, these had light inside them. Natural light, that is. I entered the right one and felt creeped out by what I saw. The light came in through an opening near the ceiling from where you could see the street. This opening served as a window but... it had bars in it. Yes, bars. My mind start wandering immediately. This, of course, with the help of the rest of the room. There was this large stone raised in one of the corners with a 1 meter height. As for the length, I'd say 1 meter and a half minimum and 1 meter width tops. Doesn't take much to start imagining what could have had happened in there. First thing that came to my mind was the sickening feeling that someone could have been imprisioned there, even though I confess I could be exagerating. Still, the elements in that room led me to think otherwise. The room in front of that one could only be described as a mirror image to the one I had just been in. Everything matched, bars and stone. Definitely not usual and not normal. Through the corridor, now walking towards the light, we reach the backyard and go up the outside stairs to the kitchen, finishing the tour of the house by going to the front door.
Now, at this age I was highly interested in the paranormal area. I used to browse a lot of stuff online about ghosts and weird phenomena and I felt weirdly drawn to that house, like I had to check it again. So I thought of going there again, only needed an opportunity to do so. I waited and my chance finally arrived, my father told me he was going to go there again to see some more stuff. Perfect, I thought. We went there and after a while my father left because he was called for work, but it wouldn't take long, so he'd come back to pick me up soon. Couldn't have gone better, I finally had a chance to check out the house by myself. My father left and I went inside.
Back in the corridor. I decided I'd inspect every room and see if I could... feel or see anything that wasn't normal. I went in the first bedroom on the right and looked around, standing in the center of it. This time I had a flashlight with me, by the way. Not that it was needed in this precise division of the house, seeing as it was illuminated by the light that entered the room through the decayed window. After a minute of being in the room and seeing nothing, I decided to move to the bedroom in the other bedroom. Same thing. Nothing special in it, other than the spiders who walked through their webs above my head. Considering I'm not too fond of spiders myself this was a little disturbing, so far the only "weird" thing that I had seen so far, but definitely not out of place, considering where I was. I turn around to face the door and start walking towards it, getting back to the long, almost tiring, corridor. I walk, only with the company of the weird atmosphere of the house and the creaking sounds of the aged floorboards. I finally arrive at the next two doors. Considering I was a bit curious about the "living room" since I hadn't seen it before, I go in and turn on the flashlight. I point it at the dark corners which were now lit by the flashlight. I was a bit nervous to be honest because... well, after all I was in a dark room with no idea what could appear. You can imagine what kind of things went through my mind during those 3 seconds that took me to turn on the flashlight, which actually appeared to have lasted 5 minutes. After pointing it to the corners, I felt relieved. Obviously nothing was there. My silly imaginative mind took the best of me. Now, to be honest. I didn't exactly stay there as long as I stayed in the other rooms because it was unnerving... but that was it, nothing else. No ghosts, nothing. I turn off the flashlight and head to the bathroom, which was right in front of the living room. Now this is where... something happens and I didn't even realize it when it happened. I slowly walk in the bathroom, remind you it was lit by the faint light that came from the window almost glued to the ceiling and look around. The stench comes back to my nose, having me doing a rather unpleasant facial expression which could be described with the word disgust. I look around and recall my curiosity about the toilet. Weird I know, but I wanted to know what was in the toilet, which could be the cause of such awful smell. I slowly walk towards the toilet and look inside. A mix of garbage and a bit of debris from the ceiling above laid inside it, looking somewhat repulsive. As I was looking inside... I feel a slight touch in the back of my neck. I throw my right hand immediately on it and turn around. As I turn around, and I shit you not, I see this... faint shadow, in the corridor, going past the door, in the corner of my eye. By this time I should be shitting bricks... right? Wrong. I didn't. Don't ask me why. Just thinking about it now scares the shit out of me, but while I was there and when it happened... I felt like it was nothing special. I thought it would be better to leave the bathroom and I slowly walk into the corridor. I look to my left and to my right and nothing was there. My father wasn't in the house either because he had definitely gone to work. I decide to keep moving on. I walk into the large room which preceded the kitchen. Nothing there apart from the large humidity stains on the torn wallpapers. Now that I think of it kinda reminds me of Dark Waters. Anyway, I know what you're waiting for. Exactly what I was waiting for. I walk into the kitchen, and of course, to the left of it. Right next to the putrid fridge. The door that led to the narrow walkway into the basement. One step, two steps, three steps. There I was, right beneath the top of the doorframe, peering into the stairs. This time it felt a lot more creepy because well, I was there alone. I turn on the flashlight and I take a deep breath, starting to go down. Surrounded and overwhelmed by the claustrophobic feeling of the unusual stairs, I keep going. I could feel that there was almost no oxygen in this area, as if the air didn't circulate through there. With the flashlight pointed down at the bottom of the stairs before the turn my heart was beating the fastest way it has throughout my whole life until now. Slow steps, one at a time, breathing slowly. My fear of spiders disappeared as if no such thing existed. The creepy feeling of the stairs completely overwhelmed my fear of them. It seemed so unreal. I kept going down. By the turn I stop, looking up at the door (yeah, weirdly enough this was the only part of the house which had a door) and wishing deeply inside that the door wouldn't close by itself. Even though the basement had an opening for the backyard, I felt that if something happened I couldn't even get out from there, because eventually something would get me before I could. I look back at the bottom of the stairs and after another deep breath I walk the last steps of the stairs. Relieved again that nothing happened, I look around the humidity-filled room, pointing the flashlight around. Nothing unusual here. I still didn't care if there were spiders in the room or not. I walk towards the damp corridor of the basement and once in it, I check the pipes room. I step in and nothing special was there, just confirmed my assumption that these were "only" old pipes. Even though I had no idea what they were for. Turn back at the corridor and get back to it. I look up and see the pipes again, heading to the end of the corridor. I forgot to mention. As I walked through the house alone I couldn't help but feel like I was being watched. As I walked through the corridor I looked over my shoulder, hoping that nothing would be there. As I did, I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed in it, even though it was better not to see anything. I reach the end of the corridor with the help of my flashlight and enter into one of the rooms. Even though they had some light in them, I still kept my flashlight turned on. Looking around, hoping to find something I could have missed on my first visit, pointing the flashlight at every corner of the room. Nothing. The only bizarre thing on the disposition of this room were the odd bars and bed-like stone. I couldn't help but feeling that something wasn't right about those rooms. I check the other room and nothing either, just the abnormal elements of it. I decide it's time to leave. To be honest, I remember feeling that it was best to leave because I felt really uneasy in there. I turn my back at the corridor and start walking towards it. I leave the room. I start walking through the corridor, looking at the pipe on the ceiling as if I was saying farewell to it for the last time. At least I hoped so. Now. You know that feeling you had when you were younger, or probably still have, when you're going to the bathroom at night in your own home through the dark shades of the night and you're walking back to your safe bedroom and you feel that sense of dread, like something is behind you, following you close. You start walking faster, faster and faster. Your heart starts beating more rapidly with every step you take. Well, I was walking through the corridor and I step in the room with the confined stairs and I start feeling this. I go up the first step and start feeling what I mentioned before. Pure fear. I start going up the stairs, not running, mind you, but walking faster. I get up to the kitchen and turn to the right to the large room, faster. I walk forward to the corridor door and turn right, even faster. The feeling of dread keeps rising, with each creek that echoes on the empty corridor walls as I hurriedly walk, the fastest I've walked my whole life now. SOMETHING was behind me but I couldn't run. I saw the light at the end of the corridor, or should I say door. Sorry for the comparison, but it felt like that. I avoid looking at the inside of the rooms I pass through in the corridor, fearing that there would be something there staring at me. My heart beating faster than anything I ever remember feels relieved when I get my hand on the door handle. I turn the doorknob and open the door, walking out as the pure air goes in my nose, making me feel like I had no air at all inside the house. I close the door before me without even looking back, not even knowing to know what could be behind me, if there was anything at all. I rest outside and wait until my father comes. Never told him or anyone else, it's the first time I'm writing this or telling it to anyone, as far as I remember.
This is it. Nothing happened. No ghosts or anything, only the feelings I mentioned. Don't fuck with something that isn't to be fucked with. I learned my lesson. Even though I'm glad I didn't see anything except for the brief shadow on the bathroom and slight touch on the neck, also with the fear I felt while walking out of the house, I got disappointed because I truly thought I was gonna see at least something clear in there.
Well, looks like I got a bit carried away. I like writing.
