Looking for games with stories!

If you're like me, I love it when a game has an interesting, in depth storyline to it.
I've been trying to find some first/third person games with stories (no point/click or RPG crap).

Any ideas?



Games that I know of with a good story...

Half-Life 2 + Episode 1 & 2
GTA San Andreas
Call of Duty (1, 2, 4, MW2)
Splinter Cell (Pandora Tomorrow, Chaos Theory)
Assassins Creed
Left 4 Dead & L4D2 (The way the second game played out its' story was epic)

Most of the other games I have are just frag games or have lame stories.

What do you suggest?

Assassins Creed II, I haven't played it but a friend of mine who was huge fan of Assassins Creed liked it so I thought I'd suggest it.

Fable (The Lost Chapters), it's with an expansion and this game is really kickass, you can freeroam quite alot and you can customize your character lots too. If you were to get it get the expansion too (The Lost Chapters). This is not a shooter game but more of an RPG game although it's great. I don't like RPG games but I still loved it.

Tips from a friend: Entire Half-Life serie and Gears Of War.

Games with a nice storyline:

Fable: The Lost Chapters  (old but great, pretty short though.)
The Witcher (deepest/best RPG game that ive ever played, has a mature and interesting storyline (multiple storylines))
Assassins Creed 1 + 2
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (standard version kinda boring, you gotta play it with mods, then its super awesome)
Overlord: Raising Hell and Overlord 2
Call of Duty (all)

The witcher has a really mature and deep storyline, different storylines depending on the choices you make ingame (and your choices REALLY affect the gameplay. Fable:The Lost Chapters advertises different storylines etc aswell, but in Fable nothing really changes, all you get is 2 different ending sequences and a few minor shit. In Witcher every single choice you make REALLY affects your gameplay. The Witcher has a great combination of jokes, fun, brutality, maturity, sex, drugs and generally great dialogues.


EDIT: just noticed you said "no RPG crap". Well, both Fable and The Witcher kinda count as RPGs, but their both more action-RPGs. I'd call The Witcher rather an action game than a roleplaying game. (WASD, nice fighting system, no lame RPG party, etc)

I checked them both out. The Witcher looks pretty cool but not sure about Fable.

I was planning on getting Gears of War anyway

I'm also hoping to get Splinter Cell Conviction which I've been waiting about 4 years for, and Bad Company 2. What are the single player stories like in them?

Bad Copmany 2's story is pretty cool, but the multiplayer is way better. If you were to get it you should buy it and play the multiplayer as well.
Back to the story. It's kind of short but is nicely made and there are lots of action too. I have no idea if you should play Bad Company's story first though, but I haven't played it and I understood Bad Company 2's entire story.

I'd always planned on buying that game, as the Multiplayer looks kick-ass! Also, Bad Company [1] was never released for PC, so I couldn't play the first story even if I wanted to.

Thats the one set after the nuclear war, right? Gotta check that out too, I love Dystopia settings.
