I don't hate Slipknot, I just don't like them (same with Trivium)
There are few bands or artists I hate- I dislike Avenged Sevenfold, Brokencyde, Bullet for my Valentine etc more than Slipknot.

Maka the only atmospheric death metal I can think of off the top of my head is Insomnium (Insomnium - Last Statement, sweet riff) and local boys Be'lakor (who play in a similar style).

Unless you're also thinking SepticFlesh style (which is more symphonic)? Or perhaps oldskool Septic Flesh which is more death/doom?
