Liverpool's fate was just about to be handed over to the Royal Bank of Scotland and if that happened the club will be sold for a much lower price and H+G won't get much money from it. With time running out, many protests, the Spirit Of Shankly trying to drive them out and then a video (Dear Mr Hicks (see below)) was produced with Liverpool fans and celebrities (also Liverpool fans) which was released just yesterday.
Tom Hicks in particular started feeling the pressure and with the media in America getting involved and writing up stories (thanks to us fans) he was effectively backed into a corner. In order for someone to buy the club, a bidder must be accepted by Tom Hicks, George Gillett, Christian Purslow, Martin Broughton and Ian Ayre. The owners have already tried accepting bids from (corrupt) bidders but the board kept disallowing it to happen. Because of this, Hicks and Gillete tried sacking Purslow and Ayre and appointing two replacements (Hick's son and the vice president of Kop Holdings) but news of that went public straight away and it didn't happen. They tried that so they could accept an offer THEY liked getting THEM money and possibly putting us further into shit. They couldn't fire Martin Broughton because he's employed by the banks and not them so they couldn't sack him.
Last night we got told about two bidders aswell as the part where they tried firing Purslow and Ayre but all summer we kept getting told about bidders and nothing happened so we didn't think much of it. The bidders were the owners of the Red Sox (another American who owns a baseball team (like Hicks)) and another unknown bidder believed to be from Asia (rumoured Middle East).
This morning it's said that we got bought by the Red Sox owner and the Spirit Of Shankly spokesman James McKenna told journalists what the sale means to everyone and now that the dark cloud has been lifted from all of us (fans, players, manager and board) the team should start performing soon. If they still don't get their act together then they now have nobody to blame but themselves.
The Red Sox owner has also done a good job at the baseball club since taking over them and are not like Hicks and Gillett. David Moores and Rick Parry didn't do their research properly and when they sold to the Americans they didn't do any background checks as they have ruined businesses before who are still suffering many years later (Brazil's Panathinaikos).
Here's the video!
