Just a hint, Twilight. As long as you keep the image's size proportional to the UV maps and both sides a power of 2, you can work with a higher resolution. It won't make it the rest of the skin any less blurry, but you can skin in higher detail.
Doubling or tripling the resolution, of course, would increase the file size - but if you're compressing it, it won't be an issue.
