I have txd workshop, but you cant do anything with dffs in it apart from detect them?

anyways, if you open a .dff file you will see there are some .jpeg's in it, am i right?.
you can extract them and edit them then overwrite the normal file with the edited one (make back-up's), and then you have to compile otherwise the mod just wont work

I ported a nice little M4 carbine from Hitman: Blood Money to Source, and I tried to get it in .dff format so I could use it in GTAA. The exporter failed on the skin, and it crashed on startup.
