My guess would be no and if one of these problems occur (odds are it wont happen to me/you ever). The gun allowance and the private gun industry is based on fear and that is one thing the Americans sure have. If one of these things happens to you you are indeed pretty screwed but you will (most likely) survive. You need to have a little trust in the police. Besides, if I would kill someone I would feel very guilty for killing someone.
