Short answer is YES, I have.  We have lots of varmints around here (skunks and such), and for them, we use a SnakeCharmer .410 shotgun. 


For personal defense, my dad got me a Glock 23 (he has a Glock 22) and yes, I'm well trained with it.  Both are .40 caliber but while his G22 is full sized, my G23 is the compact model.  It fits my hand better than the bigger one.

There are also various other ways of handling crooks. Like discussing (little chance of succes), scaring them (making noise scares burglars away already in most cases), using or threatening with a 'lighter'  weapon like a baseball bat or a knife.
These are all pretty effective if the crook himself doesnt have a gun. In Europe the chance of a normal crook having a gun is a lot smaller then in the US. If the crook indeed has a gun, ok, he won this round but when he walks around with guns he will get arrested way faster then other crooks. If he doesnt you dont need to have a gun either.
So the permission to have guns increases the dangers in the society more then it protects you. As crooks in the US most likely have guns you as a normal citizen will feel the need to have a gun yourself for 'defence' but the danger of having a gun in your home is way higher then its effectiveness against crooks.
How often do you run into a crook? Alright, it depends in what neighbourhood you live, but you rarely meet them. You have guns all the time and having a gun in your house makes the border for using it way lower. So if you your brain isnt functioning a full 100% and you just had a fight you might get the gun and shoot everyone else. And also think of kids that might run into a gun when they are searching the house.

Now I would like to see some real reasons for having a gun

I live in Belgium, the only ppl with acces to guns here are shooting-clubmembers (not much) and police.
And ofcourse the illegal ways:criminals etc, but that is like everywhere else in the world.

Back on topic, I have never, tbh, but I'd love too. I live in Colombia, South America, and unluckily this is a really violent country. Almost anyone can get an ilegal wep in here really easily...

I'd like to fire a weapon, specially a Desert Eagle, just like the one in San Andreas (Quite impossible), but just for fun, I can be evil sometimes, but not as much as to hurt a person for need or fun (just personal defence).

And about Infamous, you're quite right, some busters in this server think they're "hard" because they can pwn you 1 and 1000 times, but in a simple freaking game, I bet if they confront other in rl with real weapons, they would really shit their pants... You're 100% right: if you don't aim properly a gun, even a 9mm, it could easily break your arm and/or chest.
