I think you're missing what I find humorous - the fact the dog is dead is not the humor. The way Will Smith just throws it out of the way is.

If you want a real good film, get 28 Days Later, or 28 Weeks Later -- eventhough the sequel wasn't so good, they both rocked in terms of action. There was no over-glorified bits, and it's alot funnier to watch.
