The Dutch aren't shaming Robben for diving; instead some are praising him because that penalty won them the game. However, both the players and the fans seem to find comfort in the fact that other teams dive as well, and so they don't feel as bad when they succeed in deceiving the referee. So it seems that nowadays it's not about letting the best team win, it's about doing anything possible to win the game, even if it means fabricating fake penalties.

Precisely. Not only that, but when people who are neither Dutch nor Mexican end up supporting a team just for the match and defend unsportsmanlike conduct by a team or player they are only temporarily rooting for, I find it a bit odd.
