What a day. Incredible how 23 players and a coach can paralize an entire country, lol. After all the bullshit I talked about them I had to (partially) eat those words (highlights to Peru and FateTrip for the heads up).

Went to a mall with two friends to watch Colombia vs. Greece. When I arrived players had just entered the pitch. Seeing the entire stadium yellow and hearing the national anthem being sung by the players, spectators and the people in the mall after 16 years of absence just made me bristle. Never been to such an ambience before (ironically I've never gone to a stadium to watch a football match yet). Hundreds of people (see pictures), and you can't imagine how it was when Colombia scored. Impossible not to celebrate those goals. Also, having several friends from several countries leaving cheering messages was just awesome. I'd be a hypocrite if I said I wouldn't be one of the first to criticize the team if they had lost, and I'd equally be one if I said now I all of a sudden declare myself a die-for fan just because of the result (lol), but I can say they did well and deserved it. Now that was only the first match, and they'll really have to step strong if they want to pass, given what we saw from both Japan and Ivory Coast. Several things to correct as well.

The other matches were also pretty interesting. Costa Rica really surprised and did very good. Funny how some Uruguayan press articles said  "poor Costa Ricans were a true minority" and were giving Uruguay as an obvious winner. Beautiful second and third goal.

England vs. Italy was also very good. Italy was pretty consistent, whereas England seemed to have good ideas but at some point just lost the focus on attack.

And last but not least, I also liked Ivory Coast vs. Japan. The asians started well but soon lost their spark. Ivory Coast cornered until they finally could turn the balance in their favor. It was a good day. Gotta love how out of 8 matches finished none has ended as a draw yet and in none less than three goals were scored, apart from Mexico - Cameroon.

Here are today's matches:

i remember when portugal was like jhon described, everyone together and shit really caring about the national team. totally different spirit from nowadays, since scolari left the portuguese national team has gone to shit, especially cuz back then scolari wouldnt take anyones shit and he'd call the players who deserved it, not the ones who are represented by jorge mendes. cunts.
