What /getid [playername] does is _exactly_ the same as what /pm [playername] does but you no longer have to remember the ID because it fetches the proper ID internally. This is actually an improvement, there is no need to remember player id's ever again because all commands can be used with (partial)player names

Sorry oostcoast but that is incorrect. We've had partial nickname support for many commands since the 2.90 days when I personally implemented most of them, however it was never intended as a replacement for /getid. What happens if Jay and BoogerJay are ingame? You still need to pass an ID as the parameter because it would return more than one result.
Edit: I do understand what you are implying however I still think we need a generic /getid command purely for the sake of reference and because everyone is used to the command. Sometimes I like to lookup an ID so I can see where they are in the scoreboard for example.

Also, normally it is quicker to enter a one or two numbered ID than just partially the nickname. For example, if one where to TP to me or Maddolis, one would either have to enter 'Madd' or 'Madl'. It is way easier just typing 18 or 44 or whatever.

Every rewritten command nowadays works exactly like /getid; re-adding /getid is just an unnecessary move.
Commands supporting partial nickname input: /world, /v, /reconnect, /ban, /kick, /hitman, /(s)fix, /(un)mute, /watch, /call, /pm, /(un)jail, /property, /getstats, /(s)tp, /ctp, /gang, /vr, /flip, /cruise. We've got a lot of commands covered, maybe only missing some stuff like /givecash, /ignore, /slap, /p, /chase.
"cake" online? /getstats cak will return cake's stats. /getid cak will return cake's Id.
"cake" and "caked" online? /getstats cak will return both player names with Ids, meaning you check which playerId you need and then re-enter the command with that Id. /getid cak will return both player names with Ids.
People need to get familiar with the partial nickname input we support for commands now, instead of relying on /getid, it works much better!
yay for 600th post!

You're totally missing the point here. This topic was created because people miss a useful command that made it easier for them.
It's not unnecessary when they state they want it back, as it's always been handy to know someone's ID and SA-MP has functioned like this for a long time.
It obviously doesn't work better when people are complaining about the command being removed.
