But hell, if they're willing to spend extra money for a shiny case and shitty hardware, then call windows users brainless, I got news for 'em. Extra money for a clean, robust design that is esthetically pleasing. Shitty hardware? I have no idea where you get that idea from.
You've never really used a Mac, have you? I'm assuming you can't afford one and therefore you automatically hate them.
I've used a MacBook Pro for about a year now and I haven't had any problems with crashes, freeze-ups, viruses, compatibility issues or printer problems; I haven't had to reboot twice a day for updates, re-install my operative system, download tweak tools to make things work as they should.
I've used an iPhone 4 and iPad 2 along with the MacBook Pro as well - all working seamlessly together without any issues what so ever.
You might argue it's expensive, my view on that is it's worth every damn penny as you gain so much time not only by not having to constantly do maintenance to the system, but also having a more productive, and responsive operative system.
The days of spending hours fixing registry problems, lost .dll-files, XP/Vista/7 compatibility issues, doing anti-virus/malware scans, etc. are over for me! If you ever get tired of it, buy a Mac you, too.
Please don't give me a crappy 1-line response (just because you know I'm right).

Slice, what do you mean by a more productive and responsive system? When I need to do some work for school I mostly use my PC (2007, q9550 quadcore, 8gb ram, gtx 260) for the usual office stuff (office 2007). I kind of find it faster than doing the same stuff on my iMac (Spring 2011) using either iWork or Office for Mac 2011.
I'm not exactly sure what hardware is put in the iMac, but i suppose its a intel i7 or something, seeing as Apple sticks to intel CPUs and the i7's been out for a while now.
I find it weird that my Office 07 on my "old" gaming PC runs faster than both iWork and Office for Mac on my iMac.
I left all the settings and whatever on the iMac programs on default, should i change some of them? Cos i'd actually have more fun working on the mac if it wasnt slower than my pc, cos i like the bright design and lots of features that Pages and Keynote come with that office 07 lacks.

I've used a mac, I've been a Mac owner and the adjustment from PC to Mac is terrible, on PC I rarely ever deal with crashes or freeze ups. Also you must be an idiot or experienced user to be able to catch a virus. Saying you don't have to reboot twice a day for updates is a total dramatization, a very ignorant thing to do is dramatize thing just to be a fan-boy to the system you love, the reality is windows comes out with updates about once a week to every 2 weeks at most. Mac has less sales than windows, yes it works fine for people who want a closed working environment, but there's nothing a Mac can do that Windows can't, and if there is, you can emulate Mac on a Windows just as easy as you can emulate Windows on Mac.
Also for the record, Mac has app crashes all the time, some in which I've never experienced on Windows, but Windows also has its crashes too, but I've never had Windows Se7en OR Windows Vista have a crash in which you have to reinstall, in fact, if you were smart enough, you would know that Windows doesn't crash to a point that a reinstall is required.
So leave your little dramatizations out of this, your assumptions on Windows users, claiming they're all brainless does nothing more than make you look like an absolute asshole, you prefer a Mac, good for you, but it doesn't make you or the operating system you like better than everyone else. You sound like a console fan boy who would troll around on Youtube comments all day, that's reality, get over it and realize that people will get what they prefer. Recommend what you like to people, that's fine, but blindly calling people idiots just because they have what you don't makes you look like an asshole. There's your 1 line response.
[On topic, because some people didn't realize that they totally went off topic going fan-boy crazy]
So Twisted, here's your answer
Windows - Heavy gaming, open OS, affordable price, good for media use.
Mac - Media and office tools, simple design, light, clean OS, light gaming.
Linux - Developer operating system, not so much gaming at all, from what I seen needs more of an Advanced user, thus I would not recommended the OS.

A couple of things that help me are:
I do, however, use some additional tools: - BetterSnapTool to snap windows into place (yea, Windows has this!!! omg)
- Alfred to rapidly, among other things, start apps, search for files, search Google, control iTunes
- Parallels to run Windows 7 inside OS X (for Internet Explorer testing mainly)
- MagicPrefs to fully customize the touchpad/magic mouse gestures

Google is the future, but that's just how I think of it. I would personally love to see Google releasing their first actual OS.
I've used Mac before a lot (my cousin owns one) and I generally don't really like to work with it, in all honesty. To continue even further on that, he has actually put Windows 7 on his dual boot and mainly uses it again now. I'm sure Mac has got decent operating systems that are better than Windows, but personally, I still prefer Windows to it.

If that's the case then I'm guessing you don't have all your horses in the stable.. or maybe they just don't run fast.

So? Quality over quantity!

I'm sorry if I upset you. I didn't find anything about my post relatively offensive.. why are you mad?

You're comparing a Mac (the computer) to an operative system (Windows). Didn't have your morning coffee?

I was simply responding to your ignorant comment, in which you were implying Mac users are brainless:
Quote:I hate fan-boys.
But hell, if they're willing to spend extra money for a shiny case and shitty hardware, then call windows users brainless, I got news for 'em.
My point is simply the money doesn't go just to a shiny case and what you seem to think is shitty hardware.

Again, my post was a response to your ignorant comment. Dumbass. Either way, if anything, I'm only trying to enlighten people.
Quote:if you were smart enough, you would know that Windows doesn't crash to a point that a reinstall is required.
What I meant was you simply can't run a Windows for more than a year without significantly losing performance.

There's one feature I do like about Mac though.
http://i52.tinypic.com/2j0i4bc.jpg
I like the dock, I'm using rocket dock shown in the picture, works great for multitasking when accompanied with the start bar.
I don't use a touch pad.
Spaces, I've seen multi-desktop programs before many times... like back in 2005...
exposé, Windows key + tab
Sping-loaded, I like, might get a mod for windows to support that.
Seamlessly dragging stuff around, lol wut I'm not running a pentium 2.
Spotlight, Windows start menu has a search also, kind of a very old feature.
So far I have not seen anything really ground breaking.

To get Mac compatible hardware it costs significantly more than it does to get hardware for a PC, the reality is you're paying more money for the same hardware, that does not equal quality.

This is my point exactly, you're claiming Mac is more quality than Windows, this is based on opinion, in my opinion I would think Windows would be more quality, it works better for me, does anything a OSX can do. But also with Mac you can run Windows on it. It all depends on peoples standards and opinion.

I'm sorry I did not find anything in my post relatively pointing to me being mad... why must you assume so?
I was pointing out that calling people brainless just because you own something "better" or that they can't afford, or just plain out just don't want, makes you look like a douche-bag, if you don't want argument then simple don't call people brainless for the stuff they own, reason for my argument is I see this as a typical thing for a fan-boy to do.

First off, I wasn't adding that to the whole "Windows vs Mac" discussion that erupted. I was simply responding to Hitman..
Anyway, what I meant with seamlessly dragging stuff around is you can drag & drop pretty much anything, anywhere.
I bet you can't mix spaces and exposé in Windows, looking at an overview of your desktop while dragging windows around (you have to try it to get what I mean)! Not only that, but everything is animated very nicely and IMHO that does affect the user experience greatly.
Also, where's MacSto when you need him???

DExposE2, Switcher 2.0.0, DeskPose 2D, Reflex Vision (shitty), Xpose, and much more.
