Chrome/Chromium Vs. Firefox

chrome is pretty nice, however firefox is much safer and google likes your user data. Some sites are a little buggy with chrome and Firefox has more plugins for it's browser.

But I can't get over how fast chrome is, with it's speed it's easily my new favorite browser.

Soon I will test the other browsers: IE8, Safari and those other two that no one has heard of...... what is it Opra or something that starts with an O...... and that something-kit one.

Chrome is much safer than current versions of Firefox due to its extensive sandbox. Even the most common plugins (Flash, PDF) run within the sandbox, meaning they cannot access your harddrive and exploits usually don't stand a chance. While your user data gets stored on Google servers if you choose to do so, through synchronization, it's available in your profile (which can be seen through the Google Docs interface) and no one except yourself can access it. Google does not analyze it, run tests on it or gain access to it. Usage of Chrome installations is tracked through Google Search using a so-called "RLZ" identifier, but this is not traceable to you as a person.

Firefox 4 comes closer due to the new sandbox system being integrated and massive changes to extensions, plugins, the UI and their JavaScript engine.

Safari 5.02 uses the same engine as Google Chrome and will generally display webpages identically, it's just a different shell with different features. Opera uses the Presto rendering engine and is on some subjects the fastest browser around. Internet Explorer 8 doesn't come close to other browsers, although Microsoft is doing a pretty fine job with Internet Explorer 9.

Chrome has always been faster and more lightweight than firefox, but everyone prefers firefox because of it's layout, custom themes, and it's well... basic OS adapting UI unlike chrome. With chrome you have to deal with that ugly ass theme.

I like my Firefox setup, so I'm very reluctant to start using Chrome.
