I totally wasn't joking the first time...
(that was sarcasm).

I mean they have won the world cup the same number of times that we have qualified... I wouldn't jump up and down if we beat them in AFL, rugby, cricket or 10 other sports either. They are a better team and they obviously played a better game- while Australia were excellent for the first 5 minutes of both halfs (up to Germany's first score and Cahill's harsh red card), I don't think anybody expected us to win. If they play the same match against other teams' defences, they'll do really well in the entire competition.

I am looking forward to Netherlands vs Denmark, though the Netherlands should win that one too.

What was unexpected was our main striker getting red carded, which won't help against Ghana but we'll fight on. Ghana beating Serbia was helpful and hopefully it'll pay off in our favour.

I don't like that blue nosed cunt Cahil but I knew that Australia's game was over once he got sent off.

What I didn't like though was that he got a straight red. If anything he should of got a yellow, he didn't intend to go into his leg. And later on Germany made a couple fouls much worse than Cahil did, and a few bad dives (which they got booked for).

Had Australia played anyone else in that group with Cahil playing a full 90 minutes, or just under, the score would of been different am sure. But playing a skillful young squad like Germany when they're on form isn't an easy task, especially when your main striker got unfairly sent off, and so early in the game too.

Having said that, other than that card and a certain yellow on an Aussie that I didn't agree with, that ref was good. He booked players for diving too, and any ref that does that is a good ref.

Yeah the refs were okay, Cahil shouldn't have been red carded and Australia should've got a penalty from that handball (sure it wasn't deliberate but it still obstructed the ball's path on the way towards the goal, whether it'd be blocked or not), but I was glad that the German guy got yellow carded in the first half from that pussy dive.
I agree about Cahil though, whenever the ball goes remotely near him the Australian commentator(s) get all excited. I don't know if he's got a hell of a lot more skillful over the last 4 years but I haven't seen anything that magnificent yet.
Another Aussie striker did actually have a strong performance, don't know his name though.

Nope, the REF was right there. The condition whether its a penalty or not, is whether the player touched the ball with his hands INTENTIONALLY, which Mertesacker clearly didnt, seeing as the ball was too close for him to move his arm away (which he tried to do anyways).

@Munch: Yeah, this is the youngest German national team since 76 years, age average is  24.6  i think thats a good thing because most of the players that are playing together now, also will be together in  the EC 2012 and maybe again the WC 2014.
