Of course, I didn't post this so that you went mad downloading & installing when there're still no servers using 0.3 server, it was just an information for those who were wondering when would it be releasedĀ  :)

Not strictly true, a few releases back Kye allowed the internet list to be opened (or the hosted list .. can't remember) meaning that servers like GamerX and PartyServer have had 0.3 versions of their Game-mode ip and running and open to the public for quite some time. So their are a few servers around (official or popular) plus small ones that people have opened for testing, and other small servers hosted beta versions (including mine :D).

SO go take a peek. All I'm saying is, if you have 0.3 installed YOU CANNOT PLAY LVP .. for now. Unless you have two installations (like me) one with 0.2x one with 0.3 and switch between them when needed.

I'm sorry to break it to you guys, but this is just one big disappointment. Taking that 0.3 has been in development for well over one - maybe even two - years, the amount of new features is just a big letdown. Of those features mentioned as the 'most notable' with this release, there are very few that MTA doesn't already offer. Sure, SA-MP now has a 500 player limit, which is obviously superior to MTA's counterpart of 128. But trust me - about 500 players of which many are near the same area isn't fun - just ask any of those participating in some of the 0.3 betatests (I think my FPS, along with others, went down to negative numbers..)

I'm not going to argue that it isn't good that they've released something - I'm even willing to admit it is - but for such a long time of development it's not competitive, or at least I wish it wasn't. MTA offers so much more and in the long run, all that SA-MP has that MTA doesn't is a large playerbase. I honestly can't see what all the fuzz is about.

Better than 0.2x though .. more stable (hopefully) more scripting features and ofc the addition of NPC's. Idk about MTA but ... I know most people that play SA:MP are liking what they see in 0.3. And if 0.3 is matching the features and capabilities of MTA - plus the bigger playerbase - then surely that means something has been achieved. IMO, I think that 0.3 is quite good, alot has been achieved, improved and alot has been created and added for scripters. The overallk playability of SA:MP has improved now and I'm sure anybody who plays a 0.3 server made well enough, will agree.

In conclusion - 0.3 is a huge leap from 0.2x, that has to count for something. I think Kye and the SA:MP team deserve alot of respect for this, because at the end of the day .. they're doing it for us - the users, players, scripters of SA:MP.

Jerome, I hope you're not serious about SA-MP 0.3 having the same features as MTA. They're nowhere near there yet - what I said was that the new 0.3 features already exist in MTA. And I don't doubt it's the most stable or best version so far, if it wasn't it'd just be weird..

Lol, well like I said, I have no clue about MTA ... it is coded in a different language though isn't it? So surely .. SA:MP is limited by it's code, otherwise I'm sure it would surpass MTA?

Not sure what you mean, Lua is used for gamemode scripting and is superior to Pawn, however I'm not sure in what language(s) SA-MP itself is scripted. I'm not so sure about MTA either, but I think C++ is a big part of it. MTA has a bigger development team and is open-source, which explains how it can beat SA-MP.. in my opinion, at least.
