Yes the combos are compatible. You are getting it now, AMD CPU runs with AMD mobo, and Intel runs with intel. You forgot power supply there. It doesnt really matter about your case, they all are pretty much the same inside, bigger or smaller it should fit as long as it is mid tower ATX case.
And you cant use external drive without the hard drive in your computer.

Setup 1: Good Gaming rig, that would run games like crysis and gta 4 without lag, also any game basically.

Total price: $1095.50

Case: http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=29005
Processor: http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=29360
GPU: http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=33046
RAM: http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=30039
Motherboard: http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=37779
PSU: http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=30765
DVD-ROM: http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=38162
HD: http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=37086

Setup 2: Can run GTA IV but is less more advanced gaming rig, graphic card and power supply changed.

Total price: $810.60

Case: http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=29005
Processor: http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=29360
GPU: http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=33870
RAM: http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=30039
Motherboard: http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=37779
PSU: http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=30877
DVD-ROM: http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=38162

Both rigs are really good for gaming.

Strika's builds are pretty good, but for the $810 one i would drop the CPU down to a E5300 andthe video card up to a HD 4850. The 9600 GSO would be way too much of a bottleneck for the E7400.

I chose a AMD system because I prefer them

why? Ive heard that 9600 gso are really good.

Doesnt really matter AMD or Intel its users preference, but older AMD processors are crap for gaming, I dont know about the new ones. I prefer Intel as it is what im using now, and its pretty good, better than the old amd i had :DDD

That's a pretty bad reason to chose AMD. The reason you should chose one over the other would be for better performance.

The 9600 GSO is crap, i dont know where you heard that it was good. Its a re-branded 8800 GS, which is worse than a 9800GT.

The AM2 AMD64's are pretty old and are worse than almost every C2D on the market. The AM2 was originally supposed to compete against the C2D's, but that never ended up working out when the AM2's were only a little better than the S939 AMD64's.

Apparently the 7750 is a Phenom 9500 but with 2 cores disabled.

I don't really like Intel, not sure why.
#37
lol, i thought it was an AMD64 :P

The original Phenom's still sucked anyways, but not even close to as bad as the AMD64's. Even if its a Phenom, the Intel E5300 is still much better.

Over all the arguing, im looking for the cheapest, but still good.

If AMD's are a little less better than Intels but alot cheaper i would buy AMD.

But could someone link a good Intel build, cheapest but good.

And Farepack linked the good AMD Build that he sugessted.
Here is it:

MoBo ($138.60): http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=36402
CPU ($110.00): http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=38406
RAM ($84.70): http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=25249
GFX Card ($223.00): http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=33359
PSU (157.30): http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=33849
Case ($56.10): http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=35146

Total: $769.70

Looks pretty good to me, any Intel builds cheap? or like an extra ~$50 <(means 50 or less right? ) But better?
