The word invitation is a synonym for offer, which just so happens to be synonyms with the word request which, of course, means ask. Good fight, though.

You're overthinking this. Offering is the complete opposite of requesting.

There are multiple definitions to the word, and you know that. Stop acting like you know something and start agreeing with the facts here. Request can mean the same as offer.
