Every now and then, a muted gang member asks me to tell his gang members that he has been muted, so the other members know he won't be responding for a while, which got me this idea: Whenever a gang member gets muted, send a little message to their gang chat, saying something like "[Name] has been muted! He won't be responding or talking for the next [mute time] minutes!"

How do you guys think about this?

Agree on that, should be messaged to the public chat and to people who PM you(while being muted) aswell.

It'd be exactly like the one for players being jailed. People know when others are jailed, so why not being muted as well? So, to modify it just a bit, Twilight, I'd say make it a Newsmessage and not just something for gang members. Great idea, though! ;)

then only show that message if the member is registered?
I guess no-one really has to know that some dude called "jibberish_PL[PL]" or whatever has been muted :+

But it could be someone under another name, i like Frys idea, means that everyone knows when someone else is muted.

I disagree. The mute is a punishment and for this reason I think informing other players works more to the person who is getting punished advantage.
