Well you might wont notice a difference in "small" applications like STEAM and iTunes, but you notice huge performance increases in games and Photoshop, for example.
Simply because a 32bit-task can't use more then 2048mb RAM, while 64bit can use way more.
Means, my Photoshop can easily use ~4GB of my RAM, which decreases any lag to a minimum... same goes for games, they just run better when they can use 3-5GB then just 2GB (well tbh the "standard" Gothic 3 doesnt need more then 2GB anyways, but if you're using the mods i use 6GB ram is recommended
