PS3:

- better specs
- HD / BlueRay
- PSN
where you can download the same thing for 5 times on different Playstations, which means if a friend bought a game on PSN Store, you can download it with his account on your PS3 and play it on your own profile (legally)
- free MP

All I know is that you have to pay for the 360 multiplayer and that it doesn't support HD - but the elite one does I think.

Re: PS3 or Xbox 360... - Darius - 01-04-2010

i'd say go with what your friends have (irl). I know PS3's are better etc, but I a xbox 360 instead and i'm happy :)

Re: PS3 or Xbox 360... - Ettans - 01-04-2010

I'd take PS3. I had an Xbox 360 before, but it really sucks that you have to pay to play in multiplayer, so I sold mine. :P

LMFAO, seriously...unless you know what your talking about, dont reply. :P The 360 has supported HD ever since launch day and 1080p for the past couple years. Also, XBL is better than PSN and that is why you have to pay for it and anyways, XBL is only $4 a month.

I agree 100% with Darius, go with what your friends in real life have. I would be so bored on my 360 if i wasn't playing it with my friends.

Cloakster, you're wrong there. I'm pretty sure about that. I remember a mate of mine telling me this ages ago. The Core version doesn't have an HDMI-output.

Quote:Ende April 2007 wurde eine neue Version der Konsole, die Xbox 360 Elite von Microsoft vorgestellt.[2] Diese schwarzfarbene Variante besitzt eine 120-GB-Festplatte und einen HDMI-Ausgang.

Re: PS3 or Xbox 360... - Hitman - 01-04-2010

Well:

PS3:
- more expensive then Xbox
- Bluray-Disc
- PSN is worse then Xbox Live
- PSN doesnt cost money / free MP

Xbox 360:
- cheaper then PS3
- no blu-ray drive (still supports HD resolutions)
- Xbox Live is more advanced and has less lag, but costs money

I agree with Darius, go buy what your friends have, playing with rl friends is a hundred times better then playing with interwebz guys

I used to be a big PS3 fan, but since Microsoft had a massive price drop on the Xbox (149€ for the 60GB Version, come on!) I'd buy an Xbox today.

I mean, I'd still like the PS3 better, but imo you get more for your money if you go for the 360.

Re: PS3 or Xbox 360... - Sean3 - 01-04-2010

As everyone said, i agree with Darius also, but heres my opinion

PS3
- Blu-ray
- Free Online
- Bit Expensive
- The new slim ones have a low rate of breakage
- Wi-fi
- Bluetooth

360
- Cheap
- HD
- Pay for online (i guess its a good experience)
- (though i could be wrong, but i checked the websites) some 360's dont have a HDMI port

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Xbox-360/Xbox-360-Hardware-Console/abcat0701001.c?id=abcat0701001 < if you check out the 3 products, only the Arcade version got the HDMI port, according to what the website says, though i highly doubt they made a mistake

- Another con is it doesnt have wi-fi, though you can buy an adapter which my friend told me he had to replace it 4 times cause it kept breaking, which is going to cost you around 100USD

Personally, i would choose the PS3, but good luck

I really find it hard to believe that you see any quality difference between Component and HDMI...the 360 has supported component since launch and its been about a year since all the 360's (including the core) had HDMI.

Sean's right with the wi-fi thing, dumbest thing MS has done with the 360 hardware wise....it costs about $80 when it should already be included in the 360.

Re: PS3 or Xbox 360... - Joe - 01-05-2010

Well, personally, I'd choose a 360 unlike most people here.

I have both consoles, both attached to the same TV. (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+32%22+Class+/+1080p+/+60Hz+/+LCD+HDTV/9231878.p?id=1218063831720&skuId=9231878)

Also, just for reference, I have the first edition 20GB Xbox 360. The one without the HDMI port and the one with the most overheating/RROD issues. My Xbox has been replaced once, but it took 3 weeks, was completely free, and they gave me a free month of Xbox Live upon it's return to compensate for the time I lost.

I have the 80GB PlayStation3, the one that came out a year before the "slim" PS3.

The PS3 is wired to my TV using HDMI @ 1080P; and the 360 is wired to my TV using Component at 1080P.

I play similar games on both, as some of my RL friends have PS3, and some have 360. One great example is GTA4.

Reasons to get a PS3 (In my opinion)
  • Free Multiplayer  :r
  • Blu-Ray  :D
  • Wi-fi with web browser  8)7
  • If you're into the Folding@Home thing and helping scientists.  :?
[br]

Reasons to get a 360 (Yet again, in my opinion)
  • You want to actually have a good experience on multiplayer with group chat and no sync errors  :D
  • You want a console that is made for games rather than other stuff  :D
  • Netflix  :D
  • Last.FM  :D
  • iPod Support to play music through the system while playing  :D
  • You want to save 150$ and have cheaper fun  :D

[br]
Now; for the graphics debate. As I said, both are on the same TV with the same games (one even having a lesser quality connection) and I can't tell a damn difference. I've played story modes on GTA4, and downloaded the Burnout Paradise demos on both to try to see a difference...and as many times as I try I can't.

Also, the ability to recover your gamertag and play on your profile when at friend's houses is awesome. :+

Personally, I also find the 360 controller more comfortable to hold, but that again is a matter of opinion.

Any specific questions about either, feel free to ask. :)
