Re: Extreme Metal - Maka - 10-16-2011

Stumbled upon something else.

Direwolf - Final Flight

Re: Extreme Metal - Maddolis - 10-16-2011

Oh man that's wacky and awesome!
I haven't heard any Behold the Arctopus but I've certainly heard of them.
I'll listen to that album hopefully over the next couple of days, and then give some BtA a listen to see if it's my thing.

I had another listen to Insomnium's Above the Weeping World, an excellent album- and then I realized that their 2011 album is being released today (Australian time, anyway). Perhaps it's the universe's way of telling me to give that a listen this week too.

Ooh yes I quite like this:
Behold... The Arctopus - You Will Be Reincarnated As An Imperial Space Attack Turtle

Whenever you see people commenting on nu-metal, metalcore/deathcore and referring to the music as metal and themselves as metalheads, a very bad taste just drops right in my mouth.

“Oh my god man how many breakdowns does this song have? It's so fucking METAL”
“Avenged Sevenfold are so fucking awesome, the best metal band right now”
“BMTH \m/ \m/”
“Man this is awesome, those overly used guitar riffs, that programmed drum machine, those shouting vocals and then the whiny vocals during the chorus, grieving about how the kid next door stole his girl, METAL FOR LIFE”

*vomit* - Get my point?
Rofl fucking mao _O- Nice one Maka :P Couldnt have said it better myself :D

Re: Extreme Metal - [Dx]SuicidalSpree - 10-17-2011

i guess this is not a discussion thread just post Metal

hmm whell im not shure about what to pick becuse the way i sort my metal

is Brutal and mid range brutal so sice this is extreme Metal ill post Brutal stuff

This Band is From Byron Bay Australia:

Parkway Drive - "Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em"

hope this meats Extreme Metal expectations

Re: Extreme Metal - Maka - 10-17-2011

Unfortunately, it doesn't. Parkway Drive are a metalcore/hardcore band. It's a forum, it's designed to have discussions, but the topic is clearly about "extreme metal".

Re: Extreme Metal - Maddolis - 10-17-2011

Parkway Drive is also core.
We should just drop the whole 'extreme metal' thing for now, there's really no reason for us to have two separate threads seeing as there's not enough metalheads on the forum, let alone enough to be divided up between more extreme styles and softer styles.

At any rate, if you're not sure on what to pick, google the band name followed by "metallum," ie 'Direwolf metallum' will take you to their page, whereas you won't find a page for 'Parkway Drive metallum.' As much as I really don't want to support metallum's elitism, it's probably the easiest way of showing you the difference.

Re: Extreme Metal - Maka - 10-17-2011

Spoken like a true Australian.

Re: Extreme Metal - Maka - 10-18-2011

Well I know Nater is a huge Death fan, so perhaps you'll like this too;

Prey For Nothing-Bestowed Upon The Void

Just listened to the album today after having downloaded it last weekend. I like it.

Re: Extreme Metal - Harry - 10-19-2011

I forgot all about this topic, I'm glad to see it's still going after a year and a half. I'll post again with a link soon.
