Re: Extreme Metal - Maka - 09-23-2011 How about some recommendations fellas? I could use a few albums for the journey to school. Re: Extreme Metal - Maddolis - 09-24-2011 Have you heard any Fleshgod Apocalypse? Start with either Oracles or Agony if you haven't yet. Kiuas - The Spirit of Ukko (their best) Kiuas Across The Snows + Lyrics Listen to 76:14 by Global Communication, it's one of the more influential ambient electronic albums (not remotely metal but a good rec nonetheless). Global Communication ~ 14:31 (FULL SONG) Forefather - Steadfast Forefather - Eostre (Steadfast) Mirrorthrone - Carriers of Dust, if you haven't heard it yet Mirrorthrone - A Scream To Express The Hate Of A Race Ruins of Beverast - Rain Upon the Impure The Ruins of Beverast - Soil of the Incestuous (Part 1) Disillusion - Back to Times of Splendor (probably rec'd that 5 times by now ) Disillusion - Back To Times Of Splendor (HQ) Lykathea Aflame - Elvenefris, if you haven't already Lykathea Aflame - 09 A Step Closer Symphony X - The Divine Wings of Tragedy Windir - 1184 Wintersun - Wintersun Ensiferum - Ensiferum In the Woods... - Heart of the Ages (or any of theirs really, Omnio and Strange in Stereo are just as good) Bloodbath - Nightmares Made Flesh Queensryche - The Warning Dead Letter Opener - Lumen Equilibrium - Sagas (if you haven't already) How familiar are you with Emperor? Re: Extreme Metal - Nater - 09-24-2011 Kamelot - The Haunting Kamelot - Love You To Death KAMELOT - March Of Mephisto I here by say Maddolis & Maka, Kamelot fucking kick ass guys love their stuff been listerning to them a fair bit on youtube some kick ass stuff for sure EDIT: Death - Painkiller Death - Leprosy This topic needs more Death songs kick ass band imo :7 Re: Extreme Metal - Maka - 09-24-2011 I've yet to listen Fleshgod Apocalypse, so thank you for mentioning them again. I'll have a look for that album tonight. Those are some great recs, so I'll make sure to listen to most of them. Disillusion are a great band, I actually checked that album out a few months back. I listened to Windir album just two days ago, and really enjoyed it. Bloodbath, Wintersun, Ensiferum and Symphony X are quite familiar with me already- I have a lot of their albums on my hard drive. Equilibrium is a band I had yet to check in to, seeing I have a few tracks of them listed in my youtube playlist. I'm familiar with a few Emperor tracks but haven't looked into albums yet. Anyway, I'll be getting most of those albums tonight still, thank you! I'm glad you like Kamelot, Nater. They're one of the better power metal bands out there. Into Death? What albums have you checked out by them already? I've heard most of them but only own one physical release, being The Sound of Perseverance. If you're a Chuck Schuldiner fan, how about checking out some prog power metal written by the guy? Control Denied - The Fragile Art Of Existence Control Denied - Expect The Unexpected Re: Extreme Metal - Maddolis - 09-24-2011 Control Denied are sweet. For Emperor I'd say go straight to Anthems, I'm still yet to listen to IX Equilibrium or Prometheus, but from the couple of tracks and snippets I heard recently I'm wondering why I still haven't, and they're on my list of soon-to-hear albums. Nightside is, ofc, an absolute classic, but I think Anthems is their best. For Equilibrium you can't go wrong with their first two albums- their second, Sagas, is more accessible as it has sweeter melodies. I haven't heard their third yet, but I'm going to soon. JKGRKJBGKRGBRK pisses me off I will have a listern to them songs above after work Re: Extreme Metal - Maka - 09-28-2011 Downloaded a bunch of albums including most recs you posted Maddolis. I'll get listening to a few later this afternoon, and tomorrow of course when I'm headed to school. Think I'll kick it off with some Wintersun or Fleshgod Apocalypse. Oh and Nater, there's always eBay. ;-) Re: Extreme Metal - Maddolis - 09-28-2011 Yup, ebay will usually be cheaper than specialist metal stores in Melbourne anyway. $30 minimum for an import minimum, you can probably pay $15-20 for imports over ebay, postage included. Re: Extreme Metal - Nater - 09-29-2011 Indeed eBay pwns I normally buy albums from shop called JB Hi Fi cuz I normally get a $150.00 voucher monthly from work but will look on eBay for sure Re: Extreme Metal - Maddolis - 09-29-2011 With $150 you can buy all three of the good metal albums available at JB Hi-Fi. Ripped on their catalogue and their pricing in one sentence- economical! |
