Gernotshagen - Dragadhrond

Forefather - Ours Is The Kingdom

Death - Sacred Serenity

I haven't heard any Gernotshagen before but I loved that track, favourited! Thanks for the rec man, I'll definitely check out Märe aus Wäldernen Hallen and then their 2011 if I like that.
+1 to Forefather and Death.
Download and listen to Istapp - Blekinge, the entire album goes by so fast and has numerous awesome tracks. It's also worth checking out as much Moonsorrow as time permits :P

Re: Extreme Metal - Maka - 07-16-2011

Yeah I'll be checking them out as soon as I can- been having a busy week. I'll start off with Istapp probably.

Horn- Landscapes on Hold II

Another band I just discovered. Anyway, I'll be downloading the Istapp album tomorrow.

Re: Extreme Metal - Maddolis - 07-17-2011

That track builds real nicely.
If you're into that you should check out these guys whom my mate recently referred me to:
Wodensthrone- Leódum On Lande
Wodensthrone - That Which Is Not Forgotten (597)

The second one is the last on the album- the last few minutes end it perfectly IMO.

Re: Extreme Metal - Maka - 07-17-2011

I've listened the Istapp album about an hour ago, what a great piece. And yeah, the Wodensthrone tunes sound really good. I'll see if I'll check out another album today. Just don't know which yet.

Re: Extreme Metal - Maddolis - 07-17-2011

Awesome man, the Istapp and Winterhordes were my favourite albums of 2011.

Re: Extreme Metal - Maka - 07-17-2011

I bet you meant to say 2010? Heh, any favourites so far for this year?

Unholy Ritual - Where God's Light Is An Error

Deep - Quorthon - Purity of Essence

Yeah I know, last one isn't metal, but c'mon, it's Quorthon.

Re: Extreme Metal - Maddolis - 07-18-2011

Oh yes my bad, *2010.
I've listened to a few 2011 albums and have really enjoyed most of them, but haven't connected to any to the same degree as Blekinge or Underwatermoon.
Moonsorrow's 2011 is very good (as all their albums are), Symphony X's 2011 is solid, SepticFlesh, Blut Aus Nord, AMDBL (local Aussie band), Devin Townsend's Deconstruction and Ghost, Aeon of Horus (Aussie band)'s EP, and Burzum.
Favourites are hard to say, I'd probably lean towards the Moonsorrow overall.
I'll post one song from each incase you're interested.
Thanks for the Unholy Ritual rec, I'll give that album a listen along with the Gernotshagen over the next couple of days.
The Quorthon's real sweet too, but c'mon, it's Quorthon.

Moonsorrow - Kuolleiden Maa (part1)
SepticFlesh - Therianthropy (with lyrics)
Symphony X:-'Iconoclast'
Blut Aus Nord - Epitome 6
^So beautifully dark.
A Million Dead Birds Laughing - Force Fed Enlightenment - Requiem
Devin Townsend - Stand
Devin Townsend Project - Feather (edit)
3C321 Aeon of Horus
^Not 2011 but it'll give you a good idea, plus if you like tech-death it's a must listen.
Ah found one from their 2011 EP too:
AEON OF HORUS - SYMBIOSIS (NEW SONG 2011)

I can't remember the Burzum- I don't dislike him but I've never been a fan. It was a decent album and worth listening to if you're in the minimalist bm mood, but either it wasn't great or I just don't care for him a great deal (or both?).
I'm also gonna check out Ulver's 2011 release soon- lots of sweet listening ahead!

Re: Extreme Metal - Maka - 07-18-2011

Long list to listen ha. Made it up to the Blut aus Nord, I'll check the rest later on.

Re: Extreme Metal - Greyfox - 07-21-2011

I don't think burzum will ever create something better then filosofem.
