The Ammunation
#1
Like it was possible in the previous versions it was possible to buy weapons in the Ammunation, of course this will be possible in the new gamemode. As Peter suggested I'm going to create a GUI in which it will be possible to buy the weapons.

- I'm thinking about using 2 dropdown menu's per weapon slot, one for the weapon itsself, and one for the amount of ammo.
- The weapons which a player should be able to buy can be the same as in previous versions, the same goes for the ammount of ammo.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas, or maybe thinks that more weapons should be added, please reply.  :)

If we really wanted to be thorough, we'd have the most popular weapons (biggest sales of that wep/total wep sales ratio) at the top of the menu, and make it update every six hours or so.

We could have combo packs. AKA, don't just buy each weapon individually, you can purchase sawn-off shotguns and tec-9's together for a lower price than each one separately.

Some people would disagree with ammo quantities on the menu - is there any way we could incorporate user input on a GUI without specific choices? We could use the command box, but as I recall, Peter stated LVP 3.0 should be as GUI-based as possible.
Not a bad idea.  :)

I think we have to decide which weapons can be bought and with which amounts of ammunation anyway, the following example I've created isn't something I would like to see back in LVP for example. People buying minuguns, pffft!

Something like that seems cool to me :) As for which weapons to include in the inventory;

- Colt
- Silent Pistol
- Desert Eagle
- Uzi
- Tec 9
- Sniper Rifle
- Rifle

Or perhaps based on one's process. It would be cool too if there were unofficial weapon dealers, guys selling weapons in back alleys. Keep in mind that MTA SA DM DP3 will get support for peds, that could end up quite cool! :-)

Nah, disregard that for now. Use GUI where it looks fancy and otherwise stick to commands.

Peter's comment reminded me of something very, very interesting that we could incorporate in this.
Some of you developers may be familiar with Counter-Strike: Source. Basically, you buy guns, then kill people with them.
VALVE, the producer, had a very bad idea, tried it out, and it worked. The system was called "Dynamic Weapon Pricing". Any server with the option on would automatically log sales, the popularity of each weapon, and miscellaneous information. Every week, VALVE would collect the data from servers with the option enabled, and adjust the prices of the weapons accordingly. This led to a wide variety of weapons being used. More of the handguns which were lesser-known, and sub-machine guns.
It worked! Sort of.
The trouble was that Valve didn't keep in mind the exception of abuse.
A few not-so-smart admins did not know how to disable the feature once it became set in the original CS:S version. They would use third-party admin plugins to generate money for players so they could buy their favorite guns. This effectively eliminated the entire point of the project: to be fair.

LVP could incorporate a similar system. Get popular weapon change rates by percentage, adjust price accordingly.

I'm currently busy creating the GUI, most of it is done.

A list of weapons a player can buy:
- Colt
- Silent Pistol
- Desert Eagle
- Uzi
- Tec 9
- Sniper Rifle
- Rifle
Any comments on the list?

List of ammo-ammounts a player can buy:
-100
-200
-300
-400
-500
Any comments on that list?

Also, I'm going to need to know how much a weapon should cost, I'm thinking about a fixed amount for the weapon, plus $1 per bullet. Are there any indications on the prices for the weapons?

no sawnies? (or any shotgun for that matter?)

Rather than 100, 200, 300, ... I think something more along the lines of 100, 500, 1000 for ammo amounts would make more sense as it allows a wider variety of ammo to be purchased quickly.

I just commited the first version of my script. If you think something should be changed, please reply. :)
Because my Interiors-script isn't done yet, you can't go into the ammunation through a portal yet. Use the admin-panel to warps yourself into Interior 4, in which you can see the pickup.

Can I just make a little suggestion:

Update the blog :) Its been a while since there have been any blog updates, and as far as the average player is concerned, it makes development look as if its dead!
