[idea]A new "Ramp laming" rule?
#1
Hello fellow SA:MP'ers  :)

I just discussed this with tBKwtWS on the server, and he figured out a nice term for it, "ramp laming".
You may all probably know what I'm talking about here, yes, I mean contstantly waiting infront of the ramp with 2 sawnoff's clamped between your hands, waiting for a player to leave the ramp, and then shoot the hell outta him. Or when people fighting infront of the ramp, take a few steps just off it, then shoot as fast as you can the hell out of a player, and then run back at the ramp after 2 shots.
I personally don't bother that much, but I notice a lot of other players and admins and moderators, do, and I also think this is abusing some sort of safe zone in the game. Especially for the beginning players this can be found disturbing.

My conclusion/proposal;
No extensive fighting just infront of the ramp, or waiting for random people to walk off and then shoot the crap out of them, that is not the intention of a safe zone. It's fine with me that fighting is taking place in crowded area's, as long it isn't near some sort of safe zone, right?

I agree totally.

Too many people do this (I used to do it infact, I don't anymore), especially gangs.

I agree also. I find that very lame and anyoing. If someone is just running to it because of low health, thats would be something I could live with. But that abusing like you described in your start post is very lame. :(

Maybe there could be something implanted what counts how many times in a minute you run on or off the ramp. So when it counts to many times then you can't shoot others or so for one minute. Or just the others will get invisible for you or so. :?

Donno if this is possible. :)

Dunno if a scripted system would solve this problem. Personally I think it's time to teach those people some manners. It are mainly regulars who do it, so maybe connect some consequences to it(kicks etc.).
I especially hate it when someone runs on and off the ramp trying to get an easy kill.

I agree with you the 'camping' is lame and sucky. But a scripted, technical solution will not be a solution for this because people will always look for the system's limit. With a technical solution the problem will only be displaced. We can't define a limit, we just have to rely on the player's common sense in this. They have to know people who are getting off the ramp should get a fair chance to get away with a car or something.

I totally agree, personally I hate it when I go off the ship and there is this ****** coming after me for an easy kill. It gets people to dislike each other.

Yes you're right, defining a zone before the ramp and making it a no-shooting area wil solve none of the problems, people will indeed find way's to abuse it.
But if coding won't help to make this new rule, it would mean that admins and moderators have to keep an extra eye out for these persons, and that requires a lot of hard work I guess, don't know if that's fun for you guys..

There is always a hotspot in games, where people are active alot. I guess this is one of them.

People like hanging at the ship, and they can fight next to it easily. I agree though, that this wouldn't be a bad thing. Most ship-shooters shoot because they see action just off of the boat, and then people running on. If this wasn't the case, maybe a few more cases of ship-shooting could be avoided :). I tend to kill ship-shooters after they leave the ship. But I also must own up to say that I fight near the ramp, and run on when I am low on HP  O+
