Vehicles

We definitely need more vehicles, and with that, vehicle rights.

Such as assigning each vehicle to a category. and each catagory having a assigned amount of hours the user must have to drive it.

-Catagory 1 vehicles - 10 hours and less
-would be the slowest, less cool ones.
-Catagory 2 vehicles - 10-20 hours
-would be the slightly faster, more cool vehicles.
-and so on...Obviously the really fast sport cars, and the NRG-500 would be the highest catagory.

These vehicles could be catagorized mostly by the "sex appeal" from single player, and then changed how we see fit. The sex appeal of the vehicles gets higher as the speed and "coolness" of them get higher. A great way to start the list.

Of course, we would need to know how many vehicles we can have in the game before the list could be made.

I was also thinking a certain ammount of hours in game to fly, and drive boats. Or maybe you need to be an LVP regular? Maybe even implement the single player flying licence, and boat licence missions? That just kinda popped into my head, havnt thought it through to much.

Tell me what you think.

The different categories could be used to dynamically spawn better cars when LV gets richer (check the economy topic). :D

Sounds cool.
And afaik there aren't really vehicle limits (Well, only a 65k theoretical limit...)
I haven't read about vehicle class limits, so I guess there aren't limits at all :P

And I believe that I have some bookmark somewhere, I think from GTA-Garage, where all the vehicles are, with.. sex appeal :)
So we can easily create these categories.

Wow.. do you have any idea how incredibly complicated that would become? We would have to make richness part of a per-zone region, that the economics of a specific area of Las Venturas is controlled by the people who have bought a house in there (e.g. donators) and random cars being spawned based on that.. It would become really hard though, and it would certainly need its own resource.

Firstly we would need to create an overview table which includes all the vehicles, and catagorize them based on their wealthyness as ooshie already said. Next to that the overall wealth in Las Venturas would have to be calculated as the sum of all zone-specific wealths, and based on that we would have to classify the zones (from range 1-10 for example, and control the vehicles using a simple .xml file) and dynamically spawn appropriate vehicles around there.

There are a number of points that you would have to keep in mind. Firstly the amount of spawned vehicles and static and/or dynamic spawn places. And when a player takes a vehicle and drives with it another part of the city, when are we going to respawn it? Driving around and seeing loads of cool vehicles respawn randomly isn't something enjoyable, there would have to be calculations for that as well. I do like the idea, alot, but zone-based economics mirroring the total situation of Las Venturas would certainly mean that we need some more professional opinions and idea's and the system: it might actually grow too complicated for us (care to respond theHolyCow?)

On the matter of allowing access to specific vehicles based on the online time.. I'm not such a big fan of that. You have to keep in mind that new players need to get a positive impression of the server in order to stick around, immediatly being disallowed access from your favorite vehicles certainly is a reason for me to leave the server. What I do like however is the addition of getting your driving license: we limit the faster vehicles in speed (e.g. not faster then 50 mph) and unless you get your license you can't go any faster. Getting your license unlocks the normal speeds. This way, we could have limits for specific vehicles as well, e.g.

Which could be intergrated with the new website as well, in more extensive user profiles. Opinions? :)

See, I think the opposite. It's going to make me stick around and play alot, because I wana be able to drive my favorite vehicle. Think about it, it's works like money and guns. When I sign on as a new player, all I get is a Deagle and 2500 bucks, most other servers give you better guns, and more money. I want better, more kick ass guns. But the only way to get them is to make money. The more money I make, the more kick ass guns I can buy. The only way to save more money is to play more and get plus points. and so on..

The reason I came up with the idea was just that. No one likes to play an easy game. The more I have to work towards, the more I stick around and play. Once you have hit 50 hours, you pretty much have everything the server has to offer. this could extend up to 400 hours if we wanted it to (being able to drive tanks (with no guns obviously))!

As far as spawning vehicles per-zone...it would be cool, but like Peter said, probably more complicated than it's worth.

With the licence unlocking full speeds, you got a thumbs up from me! that would work great aswell.
BTW, I'm sure telling people "you suck at driving until you pass our licence test" will go over well!  _O-

I'd have to agree with that one.

When there are literally hundreds of other servers with my favorite vehicles on it, I don't see why I'd stay on a server where I can't drive my vehicle of choice.

I honestly don't think we should do a whole lot vehicle wise to restrict users.  The flying vehicles perhaps, maybe even boats. But not the normal vehicles.  That would be enough to make me frusterated if I were a newb player. "Sorry you can't drive this vehicle, you need to play x more hours"
That's just my 1.75 cents. O.o

just to add another little point here. Most people's favorite vehicles are the Hyrda, Hunter, and Tank. On LVP they can NEVER drive those, but on "hundreds of other servers" they can. What makes them stay at LVP now? People arnt going to leave LVP JUST because they can't drive their fav. car...who does that.  _O-

True that it might get complicated, but I'm talking about certain spawns being dynamic, not all. Still, your point is fair.

Also, I love the speed cap, that would certainly encourage someone to get a driving license.

ok, since no one likes the whole vehicle vs. hours thing...how about this. Regulars have access to "unique" vehicles. Such as the Hotknife, Kart, Towtruck, Vortex, ect. And they will all be located in a regulars vehicle area, maybe in the parking lot where all the Roadtrain's spawn!?!? That way it's sort of a "gift", if you will, for being so loyal to LVP. (lots of fun to..)
