Quote:Howdy,
I was sitting at the main desk, when a soon to be customer walks in the door. He is carrying the trademark classic Dell case, and is looking very frustrated. He plots the case down in front of me and says, "it ain't workin' no mo." I calmly say that I can help, etc. Rather than have this customer breathe down my neck (he smell strongly of fretilizer). I asked him to browse through the store while I fix his machine. I plug his machine in and hook it up to a montior, mouse, and keyboard. I hit the power button on the front of the machine, and no power. No beeps, buzzing, or smoke. Nothing. I unplugged everything again, and lay it on my work station. I open the case and find the problem. The motherboard was upside down (BTX style). I calmly call the man over, and ask him what happened. He told me that his wife was using the computer, and heard a rattling noise coming from the computer. His solution? He unscrewed the motherboard, taped all the fans so they wouldn't spin, and unplugged the CD drive. He then proceeded to install the motherboard upside down. When the screws wouldn't line up, he drilled his own holes, and made his own mounts. It was so painful, because I was trying not to laugh. I told him that when he drilled through the motherboard, he ruined it. I explained that it may be salvageable, if none of the other parts were messed up, all he would need is a new motherboard. He said to go ahead and order it, he'll be back in a few days to pick it up.
Its too painful to read
