I dont really get it...

It's like sa-mp... but not sa-mp?

Exactly :P
There are more multiplayer mods besides SA-MP, but MTA and SA-MP are the best known (and afaik the only active projects). MTA has had a race mod for over a year, but finally released a deathmatch client which provides some new interesting things SA-MP doesn't have (yet).

That makes absolutely no sense. :P
Well about freeroam etc. I'm pretty sure there will be servers with freeroam maybe in the non-dev version.
Currently you just have dm gamemodes and the littlewhitey server, whic is filled with vehicles all over the map, though that is all yet. :(

I'm a forum admin, not your bitch! :+

I was just messing around some more with MTA:DM, and I have a powerful insight into how powerful MTA actually is.

Everything is an element - players, objects, and other aspects of the game. Instead of having "setPlayerPos" functions, we have "setElementPosition", aswell as other controls to control alpha of an element, and such. This allows us to make invisible players (as seen on the stealth mode), or invisible cars, as an example. Good, eh?
