[Complaint] Admins ability to see PM's

i agree we need privacy

privacy == your own TS server/IRC channel/vent server

pm == game related discussions that might need to be MODERATED by moderators and administrators to maintain the stability of the server which they maintain themselves.

privacy == something that the government which you pay taxes to maintain (in theory) gives you

pm == something that you have no rights over in a private and free server that is maintained by a small group of people who have the right to do what they damn well please.

The government can't read SMS messages in IM.
Nobody can--except the person you send it to, and admins.

I totally agree with Hector. I don't know if it's possible to make something like a highlight when someone pms another one with keywords like "cheat, hacks, download etc" that you can see the pms then. Or something like players with 350h ingame can /whisper /pm so that admins can't see it. I would be ok if the Peter/Nakebod and Dennis(management?!) only see them. Just my few cents! ;)

PM = PrivateMessage/PersonalMessage (Both)
Admin's ability to see PMs

+ They can see the cheaters, insulters and etc..
+ If the friend of mine doesn't know the answer, they can answer, without us using mIRC nor @-command
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- If I tell a secret to a friend, then an admin knows it as well (no privacy)

I don't know, maybe ppl over 200hours could be unwatched, but.. thats always an opinion.. maybe its better to keep it as its now.

use vent ingame if u dont want anyone else beside your gang hear  it ;)
i usually dont mind admins reading pms but when im discussing a strategy with my gang/friend(s) via pm's, how to attack or smthg, its a bit unfair admins can see it, because i might want to attack that gang where admin is in, so he read it and is prepared, its like spying imo  8)7

I think it's fair now that most players wo use the forum will see that we can read PM's, so that they will know not to use personal info with the command. I also think its fair that we can see PM's and that if you want to say something in private to just use a vent.

I actually think that the admins should be able to read PM's. All the reasons are already mentioned, racism, cheat talk, "bullying" or anything like that. People who are from the same country can write PM's so none of the admins will understand, so they could be able to tell stuff that admins would like to know. I do however doubt that other languages have other words for "s0beit" or so :X
I'm admin on one server and I know that the ability to read PM's are important, still the admins should keep what they read for themselves, otherwise I think that's breaking into someones privacy. :+
Well, that's just my opinion >:)

There are a handful of different ways to have "private" conversation with someone.  It shouldn't be on a GTA SA-MP server.  The ability to read PM's is a crucial part of keeping things smooth and fair on LVP, and believe it or not reading PM's has done more good than harm to all players.  I have been able to catch cheaters before they've been reported, find ban evaders, stop excessive harassment and racism, and countless other things.

When I was a member of CT there were times I would see things about CT but disregarded things.  I have played on LVP in the same room with other LVP players and read PM's about plots to attack them or even talking shit on them, and those people don't even know it.. I was in the SAME ROOM with them IRL!  The admins on LVP were selected to admin for a reason, and it's unfair to assume they will use PM's for malicious purpose.  Don't take away useful tools that we rely on to keep LVP a fun place.
