Personally I think this has been long time coming. I had a brief convo with MacSto about this in-game. The main concern here you have is having too many unused accounts, but what option do you have here, LVP is dying, add in-game registration and you're more likely to get people registering and coming back. Especially those who don't know how to use the website.
If you're that worried about them being too noob to register and that they won't come back, maybe you could use the same check that gives the achievement (been in game 1 hour) and not let them register in-game until that. Also things should be more available to unregistered players, such as banking etc. like it used to be. Just clear their stuff when they disconnect, or check whether they reconnect with the same name within say 2 minutes and give them their shit back.
Just a thought.

I always wondered why LVP doesnt have an ingame-registration...
Giving ppl the chance to create accounts and bank their money directly (still via ATM ofc) will stop them crying "Where is my money" after registering on website and reconnecting to the serv.
U could just delete the accounts after e.g. 50/100 days when they dont come back with their nickname. This process should concern the old accounts aswell in my opinion as we want more activity on the server - if the old players dont (re)join thats their fault. You could enable a warning system about the deleting of the account within a week or two. This will keep the players to stay "alive" rather then being inactive for months/years.
Just my few cents.

While I don't disagree with what you're saying, I think the definition of "old" accounts should be defined by whether or not they have a certain number of hours. I have over 1200 (I think..) hours and would hate to see that disappeared because I'm inactive, busy with real life things. So I think it's fair game to suggest something such as removing inactive accounts with hours less than, 12 and been inactive for over 3 months. Realistically, I think LVP needs in-game registration, to me it seems like you are cutting your nose off to spite your face, meaning I think because you have such features as LVP website registration, you think that this feature alone (while it is good and professional) will keep players coming, it won't. Having both in-game and out of game registrations would not only be advantageous but just seems sensible to me, it always has. I mentioned this to Fireburn and Jay years ago and I still can't believe nobody has moved on this.

The Las Venturas Playground server isn't dying. Could mention a few points but this topic isn't about that.
I honestly don't know why we don't have an in-game registration, perhaps back then for some reasons we couldn't, but now that many features are being redesign it may be possible to have this. I think it will be good to have this because that way we keep the players in-game without the need of quitting and let them loose their money.
Since I don't know what the downside of this I won't vote yet.

I think the only downside to this would be efficiently coding it since I'm guessing there's no function within the PAWN source to create player accounts since it's only ever been done through the website (apart from very early on in LVP history which may be the exception). I can't think of a downside to it other than account spam, but there is always ways around that, like already suggested.

Exactly! Having to register online does suck, whereas if players had the option of registering either online or in-game, it wouldn't suck. SA-MP went through a phase where the servers that had online control panels and the ability to register online instead of in-game; were seen as more professional. That being said, it is true. But in-game registration usually comes before online registration. If I am not mistaken, when Peter was coding LVP way back when, he removed in-game registration in favor of online registration.

You could store the ip(What you already do) and have a maximum of accounts per IP, unless requested to an admin different (Because it's not likely that 5 players register on one and the same network. There goes the spamming. You'll miss the email confirmation, but maybe just make some features only unlock once account activiated by email
(Example higher bank limits / no deletion of accounts after .. months)
So you'll add a /register [Password] [Email], maybe even with an annoying respons of "Your username is: [Username], your password is [Password and your Email is [Email] Where you have to type a command like for example /completeregister or something.
And once finished it'll tell you to confirm your registration to unlock some more shit.
And while we're at it, why not add a /nickchange and /passchange option ingame? What can just send it to Nuwani.
