I personally would NOT spend the $40 for the upgrade since I've tried it out in the consumer preview, UNLESS I had a windows tablet, touchscreen laptop, an all in one touchscreen pc, or a touchscreen monitor for a desktop pc. I also noticed that multitasking was a bit wonky and would be a pain for some people. So, if you have xp and an older pc, Win7 is by far a better value unless you meet my other criteria above.
