I used a Mac last year in school, it wasn't bad, mostly just used photoshop on it. It wasn't bad honestly but the only problem I had on it was the mouse, it was really annoying in my opinion, some of the. "PC's can do something that Mac's can't do, right click". But other then the mouse problem the Mac isn't bad though I wouldn't have it as a main computer, it was fine just for photoshop.

Mighty Mouse has both right and left click. If not working, you just need to enable it.

That's very accurate, as Windows is licensed for any PC hardware, so it's only direct competitor in terms of hardware compatibility is Linux. If Apple licensed OS X out to hardware manufactures, then that's a different story.
