If you don't have an original version, I don't think you'll able to play it online.

If you ->BUY<- the game itself from steam or a store then yeah, you can play the Multiplayer with great sync.. if you dont pay and just download it free you can only play IVMP afaik.. with horrible sync

Maybe not at the moment but IV:MP has alot more potential ; P
