Windows Media Failure
#1
Hey guys.

I've just been noticing today that on my laptop, Windows Media Player does not seem to find WMA files in my library. I have a couple of albums that consist of WMA files instead of MP3. Is there any way I can make the player recognise them? I would appreciate that.

Open up WMP and right click on it go to Tools > Options and in the tab "File Types", make sure you have the box checked where it says "Windows Media Audio file"

another thing you can try is Tools > Options > Library > Monitor Folders > "Add" n choose the folder with the WMA files

I can't find any of that? There is no "monitor folders" option to be found, nor is there any file types tab.

Does WMP play the files if you choose to open them with it? (right click on the .wma file, choose "open with" & select Windows Media Player...)
If it doesn't, I think you need this codec:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/de...laylang=en

Bear with me if I'm barking up the wrong tree, I know close to nothing about WMP.
In fact, WMP sucks. I strongly recommend downloading VLC Media Player. It's excellent.

What version of WMP are you using?

Yes, it plays it without any problems. It only doesn't seem to recognise the albums that are in WMA on my library. It scans my music folder (well durr?), finds every MP3 album and any other MP3 file anywhere else on my laptop, but it doesn't find any WMA file in my music folder.

Dunno if you tried this already:

Right click on a wma-file and choose properties. Select WMP as the standard-program for this file.
