I think at least one of them would be able to find and destroy it. Kaspersky and AVG (even the free one) are quite good imo.

I 've tried lots of one of them, i'll keep trying anyway.

Download ProcessScanner and check your background processes to see if the virus is there under a process name, then make a complete analysis with Spybot S&D and Avast!. If all of this doesn't work, try a bootup analysis with Avast!; if that doesn't work either, format try searching for possible solutions on Google, you might pop in a site which solved that problem already and gives you a tutorial.

I have both of them atm, no effect at all  ;(

Well, it looks like im going to format it. But there must be a way to fck that virus up...

Tried it... No effect...

(11-19-2010, 03:57 PM)xbluexfoxx link Wrote: Most modern virus's system restore will have no effect, it will either redownload itself or end up actually forcing system restore to not be able to start. Now a few options worth testing are listed below.

1. Try to download "Malwarebytes' " if you can't keep your browser running or such, download it on another pc if that's an option and burn it to disk/or copy to flashdrive ect. If you don't have another PC or if malwarebytes won't open ect, try a different option.

2. (prolly the most effective in your case) Restart your computer, press F8 before the Windows loading screen comes up, boot it in "Directory Service Restore Mode" (DSRM) after it's loaded up, it will boot into SafeMode, but only allow windows programs and files boot up.

2.5. After booting in DSRM, open "run" (you can just type "run" into your start menu search if you can't find it) and type in "msconfig" then go to the startup tab once it is open, uncheck any abnormal things that you would see in your task manager for a startup, this will be a big help for you when getting rid of a virus such as this, but be cafeful when unchecking some of it, a lot of the stuff listed is -needed- for the system to startup.

3. Manually finding the virus yourself, take a look at the below link...

http://nstech-blog.blogspot.com/2009/09/...istry.html

You can try looking around in some places and try deleting it yourself, if you do happen to find it and the file doesn't want to delete, then use an app like the linked one below.

Anyways hope that helps.

The proper virus can attack both partitions like no problem.

I have 3 partitions :D

C: Windows and game saves and documents/settings shit - 100gb

D: Data, downloaded games, films, music, pictures, fraps and game screens etc.. 900gb

E: Program files, all installed games and programs - 400gb

Win. :D So when i reformat everything i only lose windows and game saves and drivers obviously. And if the virus did spread to other partitions. Re-do the format, back up ALL data and programs and re-format all partitions :'( The bitch is re-directing all games and programs back to the new windows. But I've never had to re-format yet because I'm careful now xD

Luckily I'm now 20 years old and am no longer a retarded porn addicted crappy program hungry PC no-life.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have nearly a £1000's worth of gaming equipment and i don't use any ant-virus, anti-spyware, anti-phishing or firewall software xD Risky, maybe.

Don't download shitty programs, use your laptop or crapper PC for shit like that. Don't go to dodgy websites. If a website starts to download dodgy software or won't let you close the tab or whole browser. And don't click Yes or any other dodgy buttons or links.
Ctrl+alt+del>processes>firefox.exe>end process. Adios amigo.

Regularly go to control panel>add or remove software. Make sure there is nothing installed that shouldn't be there.

Search through your whole C drive if somethings up, its usually a dodgy program installed. If it won't let you delete it you know you've hit jackpot, so figure out a way to delete it, can't remember what i used to do.

Don't download keygens unless you desperately want to playing online for free. Use serials.ws (<yes that is a website)

AVG Free is good
Hitman Pro < that fixed a problem i had on my old computer and it was recommended to me by an ex-SAE applicant o.0 - TRY IT
Spybot S&D can do wonders like Gaahl said
Avast is also meant to be good didn't try it much

Don't try other random named software that hasn't been recommended, it might just make things worse. If you do have to re-format buy a external HDD and just back up everything.

If you want to know a real epic fail. Once i installed a game, i think it was Far Cry incorrectly into my data drive so all the files were all open in the D drive as though it was installed straight onto it and not in a sub-folder. I then uninstalled the game, of course i didn't think. It wiped the game files AND all my files in data drive. FFFFFFFFUFUUUFUFUUUUUUUU!!!!

You live and you learn, just one of them things....

Next time, just buy the game. If you're going to be playing it enough to play it online, then its worth the money tbh.

lol

Same shit happened to me once. I was uninstalling a game (cant remember which) and along with the uninstall it deleted ALL my (10-11GB) music from my PC. Apparently, the game files were inside "My Documents" where also my music was.
Luckily, i had some of the music as a backup on CD so it was ok, i was planning to clean shit up anyway
