Building races on MTA and playing them on LVP
#1
... Seriously isn't as hard as it sounds.

I've just wrote a MTA .map loader for SA-MP servers which loads all objects and vehicles from a MTA .map file.

Then it hit me: What if we done something that has never been done before: Allow players to build a race with MTA, upload it to LVP and then go ingame and play it. It really is as simple as that, and it would be unique to LVP.

Web developers would need to meet me halfway here. We would need a system on the website that allows players to upload their .map's to the servers scriptfiles directory. It's really easy todo in php.
If someone agrees to do that part, as soon as they start work on it I'll start working on the race loading integration.

Sounds interesting, and from some Googling I found that maps aren't really that big (couple of kilobytes, few megabytes at most). However, since the website and the gameserver run on different physical servers, the map has to be uploaded twice, once to the webserver and once to the gameserver. Not really a big deal with such small file sizes, but it is something to take in account because it adds extra complexity to the process.

I take it for granted that the user has to be logged in and the map should be linked to his/her account. Next to that, we need to add limits and add a "map manager" where people can delete maps too. Of course VIPs get higher limits and stuff. Talking about limits, a file size limit would be in place too, but I don't know how large a map can get. From what I saw through Google, I think a limit of 2.5 MB per file should be plenty. Other limits can be talked about.

So yeah, nice idea, and I'm all for it. However, I'd like to hear more opinions about this as well.

That's a good reflection of what I wanted to say. Would be a nice addition.

I know 1 person who doesn't like this idea, if you know who/what I mean ;)
But the chance on getting the official list back is 0.1% (In which case we can't "advertise" with MTA stuff) and the hosted list is official expired, so I dunno what is gonna happen with that if the latest server expires.

But it sounds nice. Some control needs to be done tho, before it is actually accepted in-game. So they can't upload crap maps.

Agreed, but this'll require a lot of discussing on what the limits are for who.
