Using more textdraws
#1
Textdraws aren't always an answer, but in some cases they can help out newbies and/or improve gameplay. If you join a virtual world or a maparea now, you get a message with the available commands. If there's lots of chatter or you type in some command, it's lost. Sure, you can look it up again with PageUp, but that's not unlimited. To make things more clear for newbies, I think textdraws could help out.

Since I don't have GTA installed anymore I kindly ask for a bit of imagination; imagine the race textdraw, with the solid background and which fills up most of the bottom part of the screen. The most important commands of the minigame/virtual world/map could be listed here. On the far right there could be a command which turns the textdraw off. A player could also permanently disable the textdraw.

If you're in a Bunnytrack map there could be a display for your current time (05:49), deaths (5 deaths), record time (13:37) and next to that a few commands (/kill, /records, /leave).

Newbies will always know what commands they can use. Most importantly; how to get out of the minigame/virtual world/map.

Another small textdraw-related thingie is using a progress bar instead of a timer. Looks cooler and could be used by eg. Robbery.

That's a great idea imo, we can add also some textdraws when you enter in the bank, like "To access your bank's settings, get in the checkpoint".  :)

Good idea! It needs to be made clear for regulars that they can disable it though; maybe a random message from Nuwani telling them how to do that.

Yeah, that's too a good idea, regulars can be sick of the textdraws after he got the knowledge to access at the bank  :)

I could've sworn I mentioned this already somewhere, if not then you're a mind reader!

Completely agree. Gametext and client messages are so 0.1!

I have no idea lol. I used to make a lot of feature requests in the pasts, I keep stalling making new threads because I don't know if I already posted them :+

So my mind is a mess, credit to whoever deserves it ;)

Maybe we could make a /robstore system, and it'd have a bar text draw, so the more you robbed and the closer the safe came to being empty, the more the bar furthered

I think I like the idea of a "progress bar" more than a "time bar". A normal timer instead of a time bar seems easier and faster to look at, whereas a progress bar (for example when used in the /robbery minigame while getting the money from the safe) can give a quicker and better indication of how much work you've got left to do.

Creating a visual interface with elements such as progress bars instead of text-based output is good in some situations, much easier to process quickly with a glance. Would be really good for things (as mentioned!) such as the robbery, where you're taking cash from the safe.

However, I think timers are good as text.. I'd be frustrated not knowing how many precious seconds are left at the end of a game! Yet again, perhaps that would spur people to keep trying until the end.

Back on the main topic of using text draws in general: great. Much better than filling the chatbox with small statistics which would be better served as text on the screen. As long as it doesn't fuck up!  8)7
