I can see your point FuXoR, but you're living in the series 2 past. Its hard to accept the smoke monster as everything else is pretty much scientific or at least made to look scientific while the smoke monster is pure fantasy.
I personally believe in the smoke monster more than the time travel they where doing
I think the greek legand of Hades sums up what the island is and what its all about... I think the origional series of Neon Genesis Evangelion is excatly the same story only told on a completly different medium/style.
It would piss me off allot if at the end of it all they woke up and it was just a dream or whatever, would be an insult and a slap in the face. But theres more chance of FuXoR getting his sheep farm back than that happening.
Yeah i actually believe one of them will get woken up, and the plane will have landed and theres nothing wrong with them, even tho the show takes a look at all the characters and there past, i believe it'd be either Soyyer, Jack or Kate...maybe hurley

Anyhow, I'm expecting they're in a mental institution or coma.
Don't think they are so lame to end the story with a "oeh, the Island was real and so was the big, scary monster!!".
Too bad the series is nearing it's end. Marvelous show.
In case you wanna go down in TV history as the worst series finale ever, then this coma scenario is a way to go. Seriously man, they didn't take 6 years of planning, subtle clues, mythology, religion etc. to play it all out as a dream sequence or some shit.
But yeah, how would you explain time traveling, a smoke monster, people that can talk with dead people, a mysterious island that can change it's location, an island with healing powers etc etc.
As much as I want all that things to be real, I guess they're not.
And yeah, even if it is someone's dream...if they create a good story around it, I won't really mind.
