DETROIT (MyTV20) - Detroit police are searching for a suspect in the murder of a young couple Monday night; murders they say were committed while two young children hid inside the home. Investigators think 42-year-old Derrick Dennard Smith was involved in the shootings.

Police also released a 911 tape of an 8-year-old girl calling for help after the shootings. Chief Warren Evans says he chose to release the gut-wrenching tape in hopes of inciting "righteous indignation" from the public, as the police search for Smith.

The following is a 911 recording of the emergency call from the 8-year-old child, who was at the scene of the double fatal shooting that occurred in the 19000 block of Glastonbury.

Warning audio is very dramatic and may be heartbreaking for many.

Come on ffs. I bet she could track her adress via her phone number or even GPS-tracking if it was a cell phone.

The operator could have been a little more cooperative and calming after dispatching help, but half of them most probably have little to no training/experience to deal with situations like this.
