Vehicle layout
#1
Hi,

As Jay mentioned in the other topic, we should redo the vehicle layout, it's causing HUGE lag and most vehicles don't seem to spawn properly.

Since my vacation is starting, I have a lot of time and I could try doing this, but I of course need some help. Maybe the beta team could help out?
Anybody has any idea how to do this? Making some system like Jay has on his WW3 server? (/v create and /v save saves it into a .db file).

Opinions please.

We used /save last time I think, but it would be nice if the cars fit the areas. So just make a list of classes we put in, add one of the vehicles(random spawner will make it rotate). Not sure how Sander did it last time.

Spread vehicles out randomly. I'm considering rewriting the random spawner, optimizing it, and improving it's method. For now just do the vehicles like we've always done: trucks in docks, limos in rich zones, off road vehicles in countryside.

Does /save work with parameters..?

Yes it does. /save [comment]

I don't think you should make a start on the vehicles yet, we need to improve the vehicle functions, and maybe add support for ingame creation of vehicles.

How about I do it with the entire beta team (and devs if they want to come) on some sunday/saturday?

We make some rules and set up an idea and we do the work :p.

So much "thank you for the hours and hours of saving over 1000 new vehicle locations".
Go ahead, throw them all away.

I didn't suggest it, but it's needed. I appreciate and respect your work, but it's just not working like this, sorry.

I don't think we need an entirely new vehicle layout. The random spawner should be improved so that less vehicles are in-game at a certain moment. Some locations might have to be removed and some new ones may be added, though the majority can still be used in my opinion.

The current layout is fine, cars are well spread over LVP, but we just need some less cars, so there's no need to remove Sander's work, maybe just some locations at a carpark.
