BC2 has some major lag issues. MW2 sucks manballs, lags aswell. CoD4 is the best from those 3 imo. But yeah, BC2 was fun at start, got bored fast, MW2 sucked all the way long and CoD4 is still ownage after years of playing. Atleast for me

I play on PC, so there's probably some differences.

If you have friends to play with BC2 is the best, it has a built-in Squad function which supports up to 4 players. And you have to help your squad and team with things like: Repairs, Healing, Resurrect, Refilling ammo. When you do one of those to a squad member you'll gain more score than doing it to a regular teammate. Thus making it easier to gain score with friends because you can cooperate and help each other.

Start's pretty boring on BC2 though because you have no good guns. And all of you complaining about lag in BC2 I can't see why. I don't find it laggy at all. However there's one issue where two persons can shoot each other to death at the same time which is most likely caused by the latency.

The battles vary more in BC2 than in MW2 though. There aren't that many maps, but you can always play different classes on them, use vehicles and adjust your playing style. This makes the game more enjoyable because it will feel different depending on which class you play. I do not feel like that when playing MW2, the play-style when playing Sniper or Assault on MW2 does not vary as much as they do in BC2. And the different gamemodes are fun too.

MW2 has a pretty bad sync and the game usually lags due to the host being bad. Gameplay is usually fun and more intense than BC2's, there's more action and fast gameplay.

Overall I prefer BC2, even when playing alone. Sorry for the wall of text. :+

I heard there are some major connection problems with the game, mainly connecting to the EA server and high latency/network lag.

So I decided to contact EA Live Support for their answer.

Tyrone: Hi, my name is Tyrone. How may I help you?
: Hi Tyrone
: I'm planning on buying the game next month.

I've been doing some research, and apparently there are some major connection problems with the PC version of the game.

I have a slow connection, 130kbps download speed MAX. Bad lines, live in the middle of nowhere.

Will I get a lot of lag? I don't lag on other games; I barely lagged on Battlefield Heroes, but with the current connection issues, will I get lag on Bad Company 2?

Will I even be able to connect to a game at all?
Tyrone: Please visit this link :  http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/srtest/
: I'll have a look
Tyrone: Sure
Tyrone: And just make sure that whether the game is compatible with your system or not
: It's not, but I knew that. I plan on buying a better graphics card (Radeon HD4850) and processor (dual core 3.0Ghz) before I buy the game
: I'm pretty sure that'll run it
Tyrone: Great
Tyrone: Have you passed the test ?
: Nope, because this computer has a bad graphics card and processor.
: That's why I'm buying the new ones
Tyrone: Well that configuration is awesome
: :) But will I get any problems with connecting to servers?
Tyrone: Just make sure that you have opened the online ports for BFBC2 game
: How would I do this?
Tyrone: The online ports for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 can be found below:

TCP outgoing

80
18390
18395
13505
UDP outgoing

18395
* It may also help to open the incoming UDP port 10000
Tyrone: Your ISP can make sure that you have these ports open at your end
: Once I purchase the game, will it be simple for me to open them?
Tyrone: Well , yes and it's your ISP who can open it , if they are not opened at your end
Tyrone: And these steps are to be taken if you are facing any issue in connecting online
: What I'm worried about, is the connection speed, and problems with latency. Will I experience this with my slow'ish connection?
: I am able to open any ports needed.
Tyrone: Well if you have slow connections speed , in that case I would request you to contact the ISP an just male sure that the ports that I have provided to you is already opened at your end
: I use DMZ
: Basically:
: I have slow internet; the game has connection issues;
: will I lag?
Tyrone: Well in that case, I would request you to purchase the system , and once you have purchased the system , then please try to check out the compatibility of the game with your new system and try to contct the ISP and make sure that your connection speed is enough for the game to work properly
: My ISP is useless, they don't know what the heck they're talking about.
: Which is why I came onto the EA support. I heard that BC2 lagged more than other FPS (latency lag) and I just wanted to confirm, and ask if it was a problem. But thanks anyway, I'll buy the game and try it out.
Tyrone: I am sorry , but the lag does not depend only on the connections issue , there are various other issues also
Tyrone: Is there any anti viruses or firewall installed in your system ?
: Windows Firewall and Avast!
Tyrone: Making sure that for playing a prticular game the ports are open at your end or not
Tyrone: Well if you try to disable them on 'temporarily' basis, then you will be able to play the game more smoothly
: Okay, thanks for you help
: Goodbye
Tyrone: It was my pleasure to assist you.
Have a nice day !Bye, take care *Smile*
: You too.

Basically, if you need help, don't go to EA Live Support.

I go on asking if I'm going to get connection problems because of issues with the game, I come away having been told to open ports, disable firewalls & antiviruses and asked about my system specifications.

Thanks Tyrone!

That was true of the PC beta and for a short time the retail but since the updates that's not as much of an issue anymore. What most BC2 PC are worried about is the balance of the game. The M60, 40mml nade, m2 carl gustav, an94, and etc., are considered rather overpowered. When the last update came DICE nerfed the m60 (still rather overpowered), m2 cg, and the 40mml nade but in there attempt at fixing the an94 it went from good to beastly. These are on top of the agenda for most BC2 PC players (I say this since I haven't touched the console copy since the PS3 Beta and Demo). This is not to say the issue of lag is gone but for the most part the game is very playable and most lag can be attributed to the server your on.

The newest update will also include a few more fixes for latency/lag and as well for hitboxes.

Patch will be going up Wednesday

I still a lot, when playing this game, get hitmarkers on sniping.
Why so many hitmarkers? And it's not like I don't know how the sniping works on this game.
Nearly every damn time, I need to headshot someone in order to have an instant kill.

Depends sometimes the guy your trying to kill might have body armor (includes helmet), wind may effect the shot, so will gravity and as well hitbox which with this update DICE is trying to address by expanding the size of the hitbox as someone is running which will resemble BF 2's hitbox.

Gameplay - Hit box for moving targets expands based on the speed of the targets movement

Its not to say lag is completely out of the picture but for the most part the game is hardly laggy if you set the filters for games near your region. The issue of FPS lag is still pretty major and from what I heard the biggest boost to fps is having a relatively decent quad core. This also has been addressed by DICE, ATI and Nvidia as each put out drivers that helped performance or fixed issues (Nvidia huge fps boost, ati loading boost).

Yeah, sniping sucks in BC2. You have to get a headshot or you will conclude nothing, since the target will probably escape. Plus, the gravity shizzle makes it more difficult and when you're very far you must aim 2-3 mm over the target's head to get a headshot. That's impossible when the target is moving, so you either have to wait for him to stop for a second or try to get 2 quick shots on him before he manages to hide(impossible with bolt action snipers, which are my favourite :'(). Knifing sucks too, it's slow, inaccurate and it has a too small range to hit someone if he is moving. I'd like to see a knife similar to MW2 introduced, and maybe a bigger hitbox when the target is moving.
