I have that same cpu and it runs fine for me, if anything might be some bug.

So you have the same one? It's really weird.. Btw, what resolution are you playing on? 1920x1200 here.

everything is set to max and it runs fine

Meh, that's just weird... But I'm not going to start overclocking my CPU though.

I don't think there is any reason you need to if anything try reinstalling or go to the bf bc2 forums and see if others are having your issue.

Meh, I might reinstall later then even though I doubt it would change anything..

No issues on the specs I posted earlier, either. Up to date drivers installed? Some anti-virus?

Everything should be up to date..
Nothing happens with the anti-virus either.

It might be, but it definitely doesn't max out a Core i7 ;)

However, it's entirely normal for the framerate to drop when explosions occur on the screen... with any game really. This is because there a lot of calculations for your graphics card involved when an explosion occurs and your graphics card can only do so much operations in an arbitrary time period. When the explosion is over, the framerate will go back up again. (For the dense people around here: yes, that is also the case with consoles.)

So if you're wandering around and nothing's happening until some big ass military plane comes falling outta the sky, crashes right next to you, over nine thousand enemies start crawling out, start shooting and throwing stuff at you inducing quite a lot more explosions, trees start to fall over because of the bullet rain which in turn cause a lot of earthquakes... then yeah, your computer will be quite a bit busier than when you were happily walking the dog.

I know your CPU is a Core i7 920, which has no problems at all keeping up with BFBC2. I don't know what kind of graphics card you have, but chances are that it's not enough for BFBC2. So you want to either try upgrading that, overclocking a bit or lowering the graphical details in BFBC2 itself. Or just accept that you're going to lag a bit in explosions.

Well, when I look at the game myself, I don't actually really see a difference (or at least a big difference) when playing on low, or on normal, or on high. I really just don't see it, so I find it odd. But yeah, my Gfxcard is a GTX275. I just found it weird that on medium the game ran "medium" (with that I mean it had good fps at some point but then you noticed a small drop (probably just a tad under 60) near explosions or a view with lots of stuff in a longer distance), and on high it was the same thing. On low however, it runs like you're emptying your full bladder in the toilet. :)
