[SA-MP 0.3] 0x004DD5A3 error when connecting to server
#1
Hi there,

I am helping my nephew, he is trying to play GTA online, after he saw it working at my place.

He has Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit.
He installed the version he got from me (this version is working at my place) and SA-MP 0.3a
He upgraded to Windows 7 this night, before the upgrade he had Vista Home Premium 32bit. That wouldn't work, it went to the single player every time he doubleclicked a server in SA-MP.

He made a 2nd account on Vista, and it went a little further, it actually loaded the GTA Multiplayer version instead of single player, but the game crashes, and reports the "0x004DD5A3" error.
He installed the game by running the setup.exe in XP compatibility.

I had good hope it would be fixed by upgrading to Windows 7, but it didn't help. Still the "0x004DD5A3" error.

Like i said, the game is running fine @ my pc.
I am running the same version of Windows 7 (i lend him my DVD) and also the same GTA version (also lend him my GTA DVD)

What could fix this problem?

It is not the GTA version, so downgrading will not help, because this version is working at my PC, i didn't downgrade or something.

The single player isn't working either, it crashes to the desktop, saying "gta_sa.exe has stopped working"

I really don't understand, because he has exact the same Win7 and GTA version.

You don't have CLEO, do you?

- Make sure you have version v.1.0
- Make sure you have installed 3.0a SAMP in the same folder as San Andreas
- Delete the User Files folder
- Run all programs in compatibility mode Windows XP sp2

  • I had to Google what CLEO meant, no i don't have that ("CLEO 3 is the next step in the CLEO project development that extends coding possibilities in the game GTA San Andreas.")

  • v1 > check! (look in the error logfile i quoted in my post)
  • 0.3a SA-MP in same folder > Check!
  • Delete User Files in my documents > Check!
  • Compatibility mode > Check! (executed setup.exe  and gta_sa.exe both in compatibility mode)

Ensure you have DEP enabled for all applications.

Start > Right click Computer > Properties > Advanced System Settings > Advanced tab > Performance - Settings > Data Execution Prevention tab > Select "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select" > add gta_sa.exe to the list.

Won't that cause problems with other programs (suddenly not working anymore for example) ?

I will suggest it to him.
