TRAPPED IN AN ELEVATOR FOR 41 HOURS

ABC News:

It was longest cigarette break of Nicholas White's life.

The 34-year-old New York production manager was working late one Friday night in October when he went outside for a smoke.

He was returning to his office on the 39th floor when the elevator stopped abruptly between floors. White pressed the alarm, letting it ring and ring. But at 11 p.m. the building was deserted, and it would be nearly two days before White was rescued.

I once got stuck in an elevator when I was seven. My mother, her boyfriend, my brother, and I were stuck for about an hour and a half or so. The "Call" button was broken, but that annoying "Alarm" one wasn't, so we kept on pushing it until some guy came and called for help. After the fire department came and opened up the doors, we had to literally climb out: the elevator had stopped between two floors. So yeah, I don't really find this to be funny at all, either. Those of you who laugh should really put yourselves in the situation.

They usually don't work in elevators, but there are some that do. Even if he didn't, so what? Not everyone has a cell phone.
