Actually, with enough all-around knowledge of program flow etc. it's entirely possible to reach a decent level in such a short time. I learned Lua within a week and I suppose Peter can learn a new language within a day or 2. :P

Started learning php, going quite good so far :D

Well if you do successfully master PHP and Fireburn is willing to learn, it might not be such a bad idea after all.

Will you be learning it?

I am for PHP, I know it quite well already. I probably would get more active in developing then  O-)

I would rather see the plan first. If I like the look of how the development process is going to work and the feature list, and if PHP is as easy and flexible as Wesley suggests, then yes.

How would that work with php? I have a hard time imagining it. Something like this?

Code:
<?php

$lvp = new LVPHandler();
while( 1 )
{
  $lvp -> doALittleDance();
  $lvp -> makeALittleLove();
  $lvp -> getDownTonight();
}

?>

If php really works out I'd even be interested in helping development :)
although I'm so inactive other people deserve it way more

[23:07:01] <@Jay> When you guys do the 3.0 plan, how's it going to work? It would be nice to see developers having sorta special roles, e.g, I'm quite good at making minigames and dm stuff
[23:07:23] <@Jay> where's Matthias could specialise in Player commands
[23:07:23] <@Jay> etc

Good idea in my opinion, any ideas/suggestions from others?

sounds good, unless you're good at everything :+

Agreed. Jay & Wesley & Fireburn own at writing handlers :D
