and a GeForce GTX 295 costs more than HD 4870x2 so i'd say the HD 4870x2 is better for money.

Oh you use Widows 32 bit aswell?
It says that my videoram is 2298MB..
Thats because it does have 2GB of vram. Each HD 4870 GPU in your card has 1GB of vram, so 1x2=2 :P

But the GTX295 ourperforms the HD 4870x2 so you can't exactly say its better for the money cuz it costs less :P

@TR1pin, the HD 3470 is a very low end card and will NOT perform well, but it is an upgrade from your old card. What is the specs of your current comp?

@Everyone else, suggesting high end cards is in no way gonna help TR1pin with his question so unless you have something useful to say, please dont say it :)

Lol, this had happened before, someone asked "which of these two cards is better?" and at the end everybody ended talking about other cards, which was the best, the most expensive, etc. Anyways, as everybody posted before, it's a recommendation, if you can and have the $$$ try to get a better videocard, aim to wether a nVidia 295 or w/e it is, or a ATi 4870 X2 (that also depends in your PC specs); they're expensive, but they're worth it. Otherwise yes, the ATi you mentioned is better IMO  ;)

You get more fps / euro  with the ati card.

Sure nvidia is better, "not always, hd4870x2 is better on really high resolution"

But it cost to much to be pricy. you can get a hd4870x2 for 350 euro.

But it has same performance as ati hd4850 512mb.  Just 30 euro more.. So why nvidia?

Why nvidia?

Less power consumption in idle (ati is promising that PP2 works on 4850/70 since the last 5 drivers, lol)
Linux drivers
CUDA (Photoshop CS4 for example, GPU support)
PhysX
..

Worth the  11€ more. Not 30.

moreover i heard that gta4 doesnt run very well on ATI cards as it keeps crashing, dunno if that's true tho.

As you can see, saphire hd 4850 takes less power with load and almost half power usage with idle compare to the MSI 9800gtx.

2.
I see you arnt so really updated. Ati drivers is not as they was before, its no problem to use linux on a ati card now days.

3.
The GPU support for photoshop is nothing spec.  Get a good cpu insteed.

4.
Well yeah, you got physX.

But ati has Havok witch they soon will make work on theres cards.. And Havok is alot bigger then phyzX.
But the support arnt so good for gpu anyway so.. get a good cpu insteed. You will not make a much of a diffrent on a phyzX game with a nvidia vs ati card.
